I like Mario 2 better

I preferred Super Mario Brothers 2. Such a total departure from the first game made it unique. I remember my grandmother fought people in a Target to get a copy for my birthday.:)
I also played the original Japanese game it was based on Doki-Doki Panic. Ahhh fun times...
When MS gets winCE installed in highly important devices like a freakin' car, we all laugh and make BSOD jokes. But you know what, we're right! When I see MS trolls complain of the bias we all show in these forums, they don't realize that most of us are IT professionals and we know what we're talking about. Damnit, how can a company sell software that makes cars crash and not only get away with it, but have it be called a 'minor bug' in the press? As much as I hate to say it, we need to see some lawsuits come out of this. It's probably the only way Microsoft would ever show some accountability.
RCA is notorious for making crappy products. (My apologies to the poster.) I worked at radio shack and one of the first thing I noticed was how shoddy all of the RCA products were. A lot of returns on these items, especially the DVD players. Also, an RCA Lyra player I once had was a total piece of crap. I've learned my lesson about buying stuff from them.
I don't understand the logic here. "The genre of games has been perfected with 'Space Ass-pirates IV' so there is honestly no reason to ever create any more of this type of game."
Horseshit!
No one goes around saying stupid things like "The Beatles perfected the rock genre of music, there's no reason to keep making more rock music. Do you hear me Lars? Put down that guitar!"
I welcome any new addition to the 4X genre because (surpise!) I like to play those types of games. Just one game will never satisfy everybody, so hopefully people will make more.
If apple were to release a handheld to compete with Palm and Microsoft, I would line up to buy it. I think it's high time Apple created an embedded and scaled down form of OSX, an elegant form factor, and an innovative way to input data like the newton. Apple has shown the ability to do all of these things, so I can only hope that they'll enter the PDA field with as much innovation as they did in the MP3 player field.
Sure you can build your own, or you could contract IBM/Sony to build it to your specifications.
This special order would probaly end up costing you MUCH more then just paying for the extra crap you don't want, but that is your choice.
Right, so it isn't a viable option is it? Remember, this whole discussion is about saving money, as well as keeping your money out of MS's hands.
If you really want to protest, buy stock (become a part owner of the company), and complain about these practices at the next shareholders meeting.
Again, you are suggesting things that only someone with mucho dinero is able to do.
Free market, buy what you want. You are not being forced to buy windows, you're just not willing to seek out alternatives.
You claim it's a free market, and yet you haven't given One viable option to this particular problem. In this case, we ARE being forced to buy windows, and any alternatives we could seek out are available only to those who are privileged enough to be able to pay for it.
To the slashdotters who are saying 'Just build your own, or go to reseller X instead', the poster is talking about a laptop. Building a laptop yourself is an excersize in futility, and once you have your eye on a certain laptop, say a Sony Viao or IBM Thinkpad, that's what you want. One shouldn't have to go with some lame brick laptop just because it came without an OS. So getting the laptop you want, without the MS tax is something that can't be solved with the 'Build it yourself or shop elsewhere' attitude. Microsoft should be help accountable for what is in their (possibly) binding EULA. MS is treating their EULA like the Bible, sticking to the parts that benefit them and ignoring the rest. That's complete nonsense and they should be held accountable!
Sound cool, but what keeps people from spreading false news around? Any enterprising young H.G. Wells want to pull a 'War of the Worlds' all over again?
These are the news items I immediately skip over. Boring!
Please Don't buy an Xbox Just for Linux

Cool...I may have to go buy an X-Box now.
Do us all a favor and please don't. Microsoft may lose money if you buy one, but it loses more if you don't. A console's fate is decided on how many are sold, it has nothing to do with sales of games. So when geeks start making Xboxes fly off the shelf, just to install Linux, it still makes the Xbox look like a high selling success. If the Xbox is seen as a viable console with high hardware sales, Microsoft will have have the last laugh. Then we'll see Xbox 2, 3, and 4, a prospect no one around here wants to see. Let the Xbox sit on the shelf , and then MS may get the hint and get out of the console business when it sees that they aren't selling.
A game doesn't have to be completely different from everything else out there to be better. The production levels of the game (music, voice overs, gameplay balance, plot, and cinematics) are incredible. I know, I shouldn't feed the trolls, but I'm bored at work.:)
I'm not a huge fan of ICANN (is anyone?) but I'm distrustful of verisign even more. Anything that Verisign wants is probably not in our best interests. Could this be a power grab?
I've been thinking about doing this with my neighbors house, which is only a few hundred yards away. I understand how to set up the sending side (the one with the WAP) but I'm not so sure how to recieve the signal on the recieving end. How do I hook up the recieving antenna to a wireless PCI card? As far as I can tell, there is no 'external antenna in' connector on these cards.
Every college student needs one. The bigger they are, the more stoners she'll impress. And remember, if you call them 'water pipes' they're perfectly legal!

Any practical applications for this?

No more swapping floppies when you want to run a program *and* save something, or when you want to copy a file from one floppy to another.
Remember the BSA: "Don't copy that floppy"
That had to be the worst motto ever.

I hope they put a case around it ala minidisc. It's so hard to keep your CDs unscratched as it is, a tiny disc will only make it harder.

Yea ,me and the IMSAI go waaaaay back. I have a story about the IMSAI and me, it's not really interesting as it is long.
