KDE2 does this as well - altho it doesn't work so well for remote file ops (i.e. editing files on an FTP site), because it doesn't read the beginning of the files...
I've been running the 2.4.0-test kernel for a couple months now, and the only crashes I've had for the last month or so have been from running CVS versions of X:).
test7 seems to be really great - I haven't had ANY problems with it whatsoever - and the USB support is sweet - my ATAPI CD burner has decided to die on me, so I just set up my kernel to use USB (I don't normally use it, since I have no need:), and plugged in my roommate's USB CD burner - and there is was. It just shows up as another SCSI drive - very sweet.

Actually, 2.4.0-test IS stable.

It's just not finished

you must use some weird-ass swiss army knife...
:).
Mine is very lightweight, small, and easily fits in a pocket. It also has a nice 'feel', the only problem is that the screwdriver sucks...
You might want to use a better metaphor
Yes, they were so original that they took their name AND their UI from... NeXTStep! :)
Actually, it reads from RANDOM AREAS of the CD, so you would essentially have to have the entire CD image.
The web-browser that can render /. in one second is called Konqueror.
It's fast.
Very fast.
Supports Java, Javascript (mostly - still working out the bugs), and Netscape Plugins.
They just need to fix some rendering problems, and it will be BETTER than netscape.
75MB for a nightly build?
I think you mean 7.5MB. That's how much the nightly builds are... unless you mean the SOURCE for them.
Check out this link.
BZZZT!
Ever heard of the KDE Free QT Foundation?
If the Foundation does not UNANYMOUSLY approve of a new QT license, it does not go thru.
And if they bought out and the Foundation does not unanymously approve, QT will go to a BSD license scheme.
And you haven't tried KDE2, right?
KDE2 looks VERY LITTLE like KDE 1.
The widgets are no longer ugly, and there are some very COOL looking widget themes.
And KDE supports GTK+ pixmap themes.
The latest news (from the KDE mailing lists) is that the Trolls are creating a new license (with help of RMS) that is GPL-compatible.
And KDE is only 'illegal' to DISTRIBUTE BINARIES OF.
You can use source builds just fine.
Perhaps how Perl is licensed?
You can use either Artistic or GPL, whichever one fits your project better.
That's why when I plugged in a PS/2 mouse to my computer while it was running it did a hard reboot (power-cycle)? :)
