For a huge variety of reasons all sane young women leave the Silicon Valley because it has nothing to offer them. After the geeks realize their mistake of not practicing their seduction skills, they hope that money will buy them love. Money can buy love, but the women that congregate due to that environment is exactly what men don't really want. A desperately and sad situation. Any sane person would leave to find a real life somewhere else unless they are making the BIG bucks.
I even remember back in early 90s when Japan before the bubble burst that companies were destroying unsold product that were from the previous generation or two prior, in order to keep people paying high premiums on the latest gagetry.
In Japan, after a few years the car 'shaken' or in english, yearly inspection, costs go up the roof. I remember hearing that shaken could cost up to $3000, so for that reason many people decide to move on to newer cars.
Women have all sorts of tricks to get free attention. Geeks often don't have or use this skill... even if they know how. I've read Paul Graham's why geeks are geeks rant, but still you can be proactive about it.
I'm sharing a SDSL 1.5mbit connection with 10 or so static IPs in Santa Cruz california with a friend. He mentioned to me he is paying approximately $350/month. I pay him $150/month to host my 4 servers there. The sites are listed on http://www.kenjim.com
