Is it just me or is Civ3 incredibly difficult? I play Civ2 on King level usually (second-most difficult) and I lost last night in Cheiftan mode in Civ3 (the easiest). Has anyone else noticed this?
Many people complain about Linux not being user-friendly enough in the GUI. Whether that is true or not is irrevelant to my question. Near everyone can agree that Apple has the best GUI. We're talking about how easy it is to port *BSD/Linux apps to OS X... how easy do you think it would be for Apple to port Aqua to *BSD/Linux?
-As beautiful as KDE is, I would drop it in a heartbeat for Aqua.
Articles like this and other such as the ones over at http://www.mandrakebizcases.com/ are exactly what Corporate America (and the world) needs to see and hear if Linux is going to really make inroads in corporate america. Corporations don't look at the logo on their computer that shows up when they boot, they look at the bottom line in their spreadsheet.

i'm considering the ps2 but i know for sure i'm getting a gamecube. nintendo has always been about quality while the ps was about quantity. it looks like the ps2 is working toward quality but the nintendo is definitely going to have several must-have games at launch.
and a warning to xbox fans, you're throwing away your money. it's going to flop.
The author indicates that computing is limited by quantum mechanics and that we have quite a while (many, many years) until we reach that limit. Well, I suspect that many, many years in the future, researchers will have found yet another way to perform 'computer processing', faster and more efficient than quantum processing.
if I can convince my employer to buy the British version of XP (when we're forced to upgrade), I won't have to worry about these (stupid, monopolistic, intrusive) smart tags and I'll still be able to read the Start button?
If you're at work, shouldn't you be working? Even if you're on a break, do you need to surf p0rn? They're your employer, what's wrong with them stopping what they don't want you to do? If you want to surf for p0rn during work, work for someone else. I'm sure if there was a reason you needed to see sexually explicit stuff, such as when researching sexual disorders, you would be granted that right. For example, I'm sure the doctors at MCV, a top medical institution that's in Richmond, are researching all kinds of sexually explicit information.
BTW, also consider this, Virginia, except for the NoVa area, is a very conservative state. However, I fail to see how this correlates to the backward-thinking folks in Kansas in re: of evolution that one poster referred to. Virginia has one of the best education systems in America. Non-Americans, bring on the America sucks at education trolls!:)
What is
really at risk in the Arctic is part of the
thermostat of Earth itself. The difference in
temperature between the tropics and the poles
drives the global climate system. The excess
heat that collects in the tropics is dissipated at
the poles, about half of it through what has been
nicknamed the ocean conveyor, a vast
deep-water current equivalent in flow to 100
Amazon Rivers. Much of the rest of the heat is
conveyed as the energy in storms that move
north from the tropics. If the poles continue to
warm disproportionately faster than the tropics,
the vigor of this planetary circulatory system may
diminish, altering prevailing winds, ocean currents
and rainfall patterns. Already, severe and
unpredictable storms in the northern hemisphere
may be a sign that the global system is
changing.
Canadians like to think they will be winners in a
global-warming era. Warmer weather, the theory
goes, will make it possible to grow more food for
export. That could happen, but there are no
guarantees. Grain production in the breadbaskets
of Canada and the U.S. could be in jeopardy if
rainfall becomes less steady and predictable.
Moreover, greater climate change could be
ahead. Growing numbers of scientists fear that
the warming trend will so disrupt ocean
circulation patterns that the Gulf Stream, the
current that warms large parts of the northern
hemisphere, could shut down. If that happens,
global warming would, ironically, produce global
cooling--and bring on a deep freeze.
I'm not sure where but I think I read that there might be two versions of the Dolphin, er, N-Cube, one that is exclusively for game playing and another with DVD playback enabled. I think the DVD enabled one costs ~$100 more, though. That's still cheaper than the PS2. Anyone else heard this?
I can't wait till this thing comes out. Nintendo64 may not have had as many games as PS but the ones that were good, were REALLY good(e.g. MarioKart 64, Perfect Dark).

Let's try to start a flame by not posting stories that have FLAMEBAIT in them. That's what the comments are for.
Quake 3 is the biggest thing... for people who haven't found that everything else is better. HA! Now let the flamewar begin!

I've found Webmin to be about the coolest configuration tool I've seen. Check it out.
Bah, I've been questioning their pricing for years and I never got a Slashot cover story.
Uh, Bush IS destroying the economy... Those tax cuts no one wanted until Bush forced them upon us are going to have be paid for somehow...

You can't have it both ways.

Nazi stuff... then the French would have to ban it. History, BAD! Nuclear weapons, GOOD!
