Did you ever think that lucas might have had some motivation for making JJB? He's invented a personality that everyone hates and would like to see dead. (Painfully if possible, but dead at any rate). If you people really believe that JJB will die in ep. III, you will flock to the theatres in droves to view that joyous consumation. So all lucas has to do is start a rumor that JJB will indeed die and ep. III's inital box office success is secured. Smart.
Anybody ever read Terminal Compromise? Novel by Winn Schwartau (1993) about computer security. Many of the 'hacks' mentioned in it were more pheaking then hacking, but it is interesting and available for free from Project Guetenberg.
Hurm. I enjoyed these articles. Gives a sort of Clubby feeling to/.
Does it really, in the long run, matter if Linus retires from 'the Kernal?'
It always seemed to me that the true beauty of Linus' work is the fact that he has made something larger then himself, and, at this point, he couldn't stop it if he wanted to.
Remember, Malda &co. are providing a (mostly) free service here, so Lay Off.
I know what you mean; my 'good' (read, non-yahoo) email address is administered through the University I attend, and, as I use a Unix based mail client, I cannot block addresses. I try to combat the negative effects by never giving this address to anyone but people I know, but I still get spammed.
It doesn't help that the University seems to be selling a list of its addresses.
As a matter of oddish trivia, the weirdest spam I ever recieved had the subject line 'Make Yourself More Attractive to Men' and had to do with the increase of one's bust size.
You might also try the books by P.G Wodehouse and Dornford Yates. These are very amusing.
I have not as yet read Pinocchio, but the others were pretty nifty.
One more thing; while you're there, try Well at the World's End (pub 1896) by William Morris. Some people consider this book to be the first in the fantasy genre, predating both Tolkien and MacDonald.
My favorite quote has to be: Said Ursula 'And what became of that same evil young man, Captian?' Said RedHead 'It is not known to many, Lady, but a few days before the death of his uncle, I met him in a wood a little way from Utterbol, and, the mood being on me, I tied him neck and heels and cast him into a pool which is in the same wood, height the Ram's Bane.'
On a kinda-sorta related note, you can download many (3000 and counting) e-texts for free from Project Guetenberg;

While you're over there, you might want to check out Books on Line, which is the e-text search engine. Last time I was there, they were searching a database of about 18,500 mostly free e-texts.
I think you people are missing the point. A DoS attack excludeds legitimate usage. A/.ing sends lots of users to the site, and these users may become buyers of the site's service.
Basically, a/.ing is good publicity, and a DoS is bad publicity. Both are free.
My doctor says that I have a malformed public duty gland and a natural deficiency in moral fiber, and that I am therefore excused from saving Universes.

This isn't a time for a tech slump, but another boom, perhaps of even greater proportions than the last one.
I will confess that I went through the article looking for absurdities. This particular line is a gem.
Too bad Wall Street isn't listening.
Thanks for the advice, I'd considered using Procmail, but the Network adminstrators are not happy with that idea.
all spammers have earned my eternal ire.
