"Maybe some sort of bastard child of the keyboard built for one hand specifically for the types of games that benefit from a bunch of extra programmable keys."

What kind of "games" are you playing that would require you to use a one-handed keyboard? On second thought, maybe I would be better off not knowing. ;-)
  2. Re:Great... on War(ship) Driving For 802.11b Controlled Destroyers · · Score: 1

1100 Watt microwave? How about the fact that these ships have radars on them that transmit at several MegaWatts? I personally find this whole story difficult to comprehend due to the extremely large electromagnetic spectrum that a ship produces. Not to mention, a ship's structure is built entirely of steel and aluminum. You can't even get a cell phone to work while you're inside the skin of a Naval ship, how do they expect to get any other wireless technology to permeate the walls and other obstacles?

"The company gains access to people's Internet travelogues by giving them free security software and programs that speed up their connections."

I always thought that anyone who provides programs to "Speed up your internet connection" were crooked and could not be trusted. Spyware at its finest. As far as this company providing "security software"...I won't even go there.

YES! I've been looking for this file for quite some time. The first time I heard it a couple of years ago, I thought I was going to fall out of my chair. As a military technical trainer for missile systems, this lecture really hits home ;-)

  7. Song title/artist on Embedding Data Signals In White Noise · · Score: 4, Interesting

I have always liked when I put a CD into my player and the name of the song and the artist comes up on the LCD screen. Wouldn't the use of the "White noise effect" allow radio stations to transmit this information to radios for the same display purpose?

*song is ending* "Damn, I love that song, I wish I could remember who sings it. Maybe the DJ will say the song title before the next song comes on." Oh wait, DJ's don't do that anymore...Just show it to me on the LCD!

  10. Re:Not funny. Not one bit. on Undernet In Serious Trouble: Any Suggestions? (Updated) · · Score: 1

I consider myself a productive member of Undernet. I have used Undernet for about three years and I have learned much of what I know about networking, html, linux and many other topics from people that I have met on Undernet.

There are idiots everywhere who think that it's funny to ruin the fun of others (Just read some of the posts on Slashdot). It really bothers me that people have to act like this. Have they nothing else to do with their lives?

I am an operator on one of the help channels. I help introduce people who are new to IRC by teaching them not only how it works, but how to maintain proper "netiquette". There are a lot of us who volunteer our time to help others in many ways and I would hate to see it ruined by a bunch of script kiddie idiots.
