Everything is a capital gain, and then companies provide them benefits. These benefits are what normal people call cars and houses. If someone is in this state where their capital gains are really their income, then just remove the lower bracket on capital gains in those cases. It is obviously income, so call it income and tax it as such. This would allow the everyone elses of the world to invest and try to improve themselves, or attempt to start a business, or just jump in on a land deal. The moment that you stop making money, and start only skimming from the top of investments, then you change the basis of your taxation.
This would honor the pledge, but would really screw the people that did the bribing, so it wont happen.

This is the biggest insincerity I could imagine. To basically attempt to only raise taxes on middle class, when the numbers obviously show that this is the section of the population that cant afford it. I normally back most of what was call the Bush tax cuts, as there were a lot of pieces that helped many people, and a few things in trade that helped only a few people. Now it has become a farce in that the only bargaining point is to destroy the pieces that are good for most.

Now we know that we can go this fast, but we dont know how much faster this can go, or how hard this device was pushing its limits. There is no point in showing the entire hand here.

I thought that the agent couldnt just sit and watch my house all the time, and he kind of confirmed that, but if I had gone to a movie, he would miraculously appear at my door as I was walking down the sidewalk. This was consistent, and it was obvious what he was doing, but if I questioned him he would give me a line about just happening to show up at the same time. This came complete with a smart ass smirk. So , I never was certain what the rules were, but I knew that I couldnt really get away from the game. The fact of the matter is ( at that time, way pre-9/11) , if the government has a reason to be suspicious they will be. You will have to prove yourself. The way I saw it then is that the system worked, even if it was a bit one sided and crooked.

This makes sense that you are only using this for you, and it MAY help others. I was just comparing this to the main ideas floating here of trying to solve the issue for your heirs. My wife and I both have documents that sync between our phones and other shared storage, encrypted the whole time, that carry our passwords. This is more in the event that I need to pay a bill for her and she knows the password to the power company page where it can be paid from, but it does solve death issues as well as other less drastic cases.

I lived far enough away that I couldnt really protest it, so those 8 mph, riding down a hill with no other traffic cost me over $400. The cops tactic nearly cost me my life.
I think it is actually 10% of your income minus 150% of the poverty limit. This can restrict the payment to affordable while still getting something back. Unfortunately there will be cases where that doesnt even cover interest, and as the borrower gets higher salaries they will become responsible for the growing amount of the total loan. A properly bad decision may not ever be paid off until forgiveness.
this becomes not an issue of the US economy, but of the ability to extend into others business. The economy would be fine, as there would be no need to raise money through bonds. The money would just be there. However, if we lost the reserve currency status, then the state department would be neutered.
the fact that not everyone has critical thinking skills is a major impact to current college students. The fact that everyone is expected to get a degree, and the skills arent there, means that college curriculum is moving downward toward the people who dont think well enough in order to supply enough warm bodies to the banks.
