So you found a device that match the first claim of the Apple patent. Great. Now you'll need to find a device that match ALL claims of Apple's patent. Right. That's the Galaxy S and Tab.
No cable provider has a monopoly... across the US. But none has competition in its area. They're essentially mini-monopolies. Why do you think internet access sucks that much in the US? There is virtually no competition.
When I lived there (2000-2004) I lived through 4 different places. In the SF bay area. I had to change providers everytime, and everytime I had no choice.
In France, I can choose btw at least 8 providers in urban areas. Result? Free calls (>200 countries), free TV (100 channels), Unlimited internet (and trust me, it's uncapped and unthrottled) 20MB/2MB for 30€/month.
Don't even ask. They'll point out an old tablet with matte and grainy black borders, rounded corners and plenty of buttons all over and then claim it is obviously similar to the iPäd. I did it once...
Last time I stumbled over a comment like this I asked for a link. I was given one, and pretty much all of the pages served me errors and other crap... I could not even click on "order".
So, do you think you can provide me with a link to such a CA that would be both free and functional ?
Thanks for the link. Completely irrelevant to the debate since it doesn't have any picture of a pre-ipad tablet remotely looking like an iPad, but thanks anyways.
After Dell gave away all of its knowledge to ASUS and HP is on the verge of stopping their core business, if this gets through, I fear the US is a lost cause. How can anyone be so blind as to think this would remotely be a good idea for anyone of the parties (involved or not)
Unity is a piece of crap for so many different reasons !! But that one is definitely one. But it is not the same.
See the difference: Unity, 30 icons, all necessary. You want to see them, hence you need it horizontal. Explorer: 30 icons, all useless. You don't want to see them, hence you want them to consume less real estate.
Do you have any example of a useful cpu-heavy "background app"? Sorry but alarm clocks and reminder apps only need 0.001 core. Timesharing is fine for them. Even mp3 decoding requires less than 0.1 core nowadays.
OTOH I approve of everything that might in any way slap Apple fanboys in the face.
There's nothign worse than an apple fanboy. Except an Apple hater. Yeah, those are worse by a wide margin. They will even claim Apple is the original sin !
1) You still buy music. Fine. This is completely besides the point though.
2) Sure. Not all artists choose to broadcast, so I fail to see what that proves... If the artist chooses to broadcast, it doesn't deprive the artist of the ability to choose so, since he just did !
You're telling me that downloading stuff from a place you know is not legal is not against the law?
In other words, if a law enforcement agency came to your house, found 1000TB of movies on your hard drive and you couldn't produce a proof of purchase for any of them, you wouldn't be in trouble ?
Laws seems to be different in your country than in mine. My mistake.
For you too? That's great. I'm waiting for this to sink in.
1000 didn't seem like enough.

This! One thousand and two times this!

But OTOH, we all know it'll work in the end. So why bother?
They have their heads so far up their asses that they can't see anything at all.
There, fixed it for ya. Ah, yes, and it smells like hell in there !
Were illegally spying on all those Americans??? Surprise, they still do, except now it's legal!
So essentially, the GP is correct I guess. They were illegally spying on all those Americans
But... but... That's everyone around here !

But if you really have to question if tablets existed before the iPad
Fortunately, that was not my question.
The point is not "did table exist before the iPad", but "did tablets before the iPad looked like the iPad as much as the various tablets do nowadays."
Thanks for the link. Completely irrelevant to the debate since it doesn't have any picture of a pre-ipad tablet remotely looking like an iPad, but thanks anyways.
There have been thousands of tablets before the iPad. Many of them looked very simular.
Do you have any reference?
"We are even"
Wake me up when they're all out of kindergarten.
In the meantime, let me sleep.
Presumably they were testing the equipment in Europe this year, thus summer failed to happen.
It sure happened! it was the 17th of August.

Bullshit, if that were the case then why did they build it with an intentionally obfuscated file system
They didn't.
, and why did they develop proprietary software to act as the only means of getting data on or off of it?
They didn't.
Why develop a proprietary cable instead if using USB, or even their own Firewire?
They didn't.
For a "side project" they sure went through a lot of extra effort to lock it down and keep it proprietary
They didn't.
, especially considering that MP3 players were already common devices with established standards when it came out.
Wrong again. In 2001, MP3 players were a niche market among computer enthusiasts.
Wow, rarely you see a post where *everything* is wrong.
Thanks. Are you pointing to Central Square? Or are the unicorns living in the Cash Force building?
If you didn't know that you must live in a land with unicorns and flowers.
Care to share the GPS coordinates of that land? I'm looking for a nice place for my vacation and my kids love Harry Potter.
