    And this is better than the totally bulletproof HP LJ4 how exactly?

    I know I'll be able to get replacement parts for an LJ4 until shortly after the sun cools. (not to mention cool secondhand goodies like extra paper trays or even a duplexing unit!) The same is not true for the Samsung.

    I don't understand why what Apple is "aiming at" makes any difference to me at all. Either the product suits my needs, or it doesn't. Either I buy it, or I don't. Marketroids' predictions about what I am likely to spend my money on based on my age, gender, and income are spectacularly useless to me.

    I also have no use for the picturePod. So I won't buy one. That doesn't mean that I don't think it's a good design: I just don't need it.

    How's the UI? Has it improved since the last Archos I saw that's currently being used as a doorstop?

    Archos was one of the first to market, and they totally failed to make a dent.

    No, "ahead of their competitors" means "actually works as advertised" instead of "included in buzzword-compliant marketing blurb".

    I bought my iPod because it works better, not because somebody thinks it's cool.

    Style and good design are not the same thing. Style changes every week. Good design is timeless.

    Depends on your motor.

    And, if you think about it, as long as you accelerate for exactly half (or less) of your trip, you've got enough motor to decelerate yourself. So, yes, it does take a "tremendous amount of energy", but so does accelerating.

    Nuclear subs can remain submerged almost indefinitely. They are also quieter than diesel subs (although diesel boats are very, very quiet when running on batteries, they're very, very noisy when running on their engines)

    Logistics is a lot easier when you don't need to fuel the boat...just its crew.

    I bet there is an entire profession in the poker world who does nothing but take money away from people who have been playing poker for four months with their friends and now thinks they're pretty good.

    I'm not in that scene, mind you...but it seems like a pretty silly thing to think you can master the intricasies of poker in four months.

    I'd say the Democrats' full-court press to keep Nader off of all the ballots they can shows the same intent, if not the same effect.

    Both parties want to distort the Will of the People in their own favor. That's why we shouldn't let the parties run elections.
