    4G==fourth generation, not four gigabyte. I should have been clearer. I don't know about the previous generation iPod or the mini.

    I just blanked my iPod and used it as a scratch disk to copy a dvd. This thing is teh awesome.

    FYI, the 4G iPod will charge off the USB 2.0 port. It will not charge while syncing (or, I assume, copying data) according to the manual.

    Just a note from a happy owner.

    That's not the argument I'm making. His documentary can be funny, that's fine. If, however, he wants to escape criticism because it's funny, he needs to not pretend to be a documentarian.

    I don't think that's what Moore is trying to do, but it is what one of the posters was trying to argue.

    No, all politicians are rich. THAT correlation refers to the system, not the electorate.

    The fact that you draw a distinction between the electorate and the politicians is a symptom of the broken system.

    Of the people, by the people, for the people is the way it should be, not the way it is.

    If you were of the "opposite" political affiliation (because, obviously, there can only be two: the Right One and the Wrong One...no room for shades of gray, no sir.), you would say that the opposition have no rational faculties, and the world would be a better place if there were a drug that could make people think better.

    You'd still be equally wrong, of course.

    Me, I want a drug to make people not think in binary. "I'm right, people who agree with me are right, everybody else is either incompetent or evil" is a pretty stupid attitude.

    Note that greed is selected for by evolution. That's what "survival of the fittest" means.

    For me, it's not their vigor that I object to. It's their targeting.

    The American populace is, by and large, not comprised of terrorists. So why are most of the laws passed to "fight terrorism" directed at the American populace?

    In theory, you're right...so why is Safari metal?

    And, if there are large areas of the screen that are not for user data, those areas are wasted. They should be displaying information or waiting for me to put information there, not just sitting there being metal.

    Apple's own use of the two UIs is inconsistent. It's no wonder people are confused about them.

    Disclaimer: I love my Powerbook and you'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands.

    If Michael Moore is writing comedy, why is he always shrieking about what an honest documentarian he is? He can't have it both ways. Either he's an important director of documentary films (and should be criticized for lack of scholastic rigor) or he's writing comedy, and should give back his Academy Award.

    Me? I happen to think he's an asshole, and I don't care what he does. Of course, that probably makes me some pro-Bush neocon, right?

    OK, why?

    If you've got a layer that's rich enough to use Windows binary drivers on Mac hardware, running Win32 apps is a small step. If you have enough access to the drivers to tune each driver to work in this environment, just port the damn thing to OSX.

    But I'm really curious as to what devices you're talking about. Do people still sell USB and FireWire devices that can't be used on Macs?

    The OS X Metal look is rarely good UI, unfortunately.
