I don't like the way its being dominated by single entities acting as marketing companies, but i'm not naive enough to think it isn't a fundamental aspect of the very existence of the Internet:)
This isn't about accelerating web pages to load quicker, this is about allowing the web browser to render content that would have severely crashed it or rendered it to slow to use before. This is about HTML5 and enabling an application/gaming/presentation framework over the web that has native performance.
Privacy shouldn't be ignored just because you work for someone. I remember when peopled used to give a shit and ask you how you were doing or actually paid attention to your job performance. Now i can socially network someone out of a job as well and these corporations still don't get it. Nice
Development for WP7 is free. MS is also very competitive on marketplace pricing & royalties.
I may also add, that Google only officially supports android on mobile devices. None of those tablets/pads/pda type devices are allowed to run Google apps or Google Marketplace.
These phones will never be counted in usage numbers.. you will get those from carriers and partners as they sell the phone. However, i'm not sure what you're point is. Are you trying to insinuate that the phone is already a failure even though the initial developer base is larger than iphone 1s initial launch and availability base? You do realize there are 5-6 hardware vendors launching phones and there are already several global telco's that will be launching this as well - not just at&t. It won't take long for WP7 to surpass iphone sales as long as iphone is contractual to a single carrier..
Avatars cost nothing and there are tons of free items available. Avatars also give you some visible identify throughout many games, the dashboard and the xboxlive framework and being able to customize it - even if for a small fee to personalize your gaming experience isn't a bad thing. In fact, i'd go so far as to say you're just jealous;)
Launch titles for WP7 devices will be a "gold rush" For their developers... You would be dumb not to join that market if your business is related to mobile software. Reality is there are already 200k of these phones in distribution and its not even "public" yet.. Employees/Developers/Partners are getting (or already have) their phones right now.
foxit is terrible these days.. it can't embed correctly to save its life, its slow, getting bloated and the installer likes to install toolbars and crap. I loved it 2 years ago.. not so much now.
haha.. i was wondering the same thing.. However, i was also saddened by the fact it is no longer common knowledge that people know the sun rises on the east and sets in the west:(
Hackers often target hotel pbx systems to call rooms and "confirm" credit cards with people staying there.. Its one of those big issues you never hear about until someone is caught and its easily done since 99% of the hotel rooms don't offer any caller-id functionality. So if you get a call while in a room to confirm your credit card, just ask to go downstairs and confirm at desk.
Stand alone blu-ray players can be had for 100 bucks, no need to use an Xbox for that anymore.. Not to mention i hope blu-ray is shortlived and download/streaming media continues to improve a-la netflix so on and so forth. XBL with zune mp 1080p with 5.1 is amazingly good and can only get better.
The problem with nuclear power is it doesn't solve anything. It still ties you to federal and corporate interests. Solar and wind power can free you from both. If every new home in the US was mandated to be built with solar shingles we probably wouldn't have this discussions
Cheaper to buy natal than the wii for xbox 360 owners who don't want to change their library up. Not only that, but how many "gamers" don't already have the wii if not all 3 platforms? sort of a moot argument to make. Gamers will buy it if it is anything like the hype.
I was hoping i would see a/satire tag on the bottom of his posts.. i'm not sure how crap like this gets modded up.. and twice.. there is more of his bs below.. "feel good theory" fail.
"performance, stability, and security" is a factor no matter what. You can't be against Flash for those reasons but be supportive of HTML5. HTML5 has the very same "performance, stability, and security" issues as flash. HTML5 can kill a battery, kill stability and is only as secure as the person who is using it. (IE, easily socially engineered to be stupid in most cases)
He's one of those righties that seems to be fighting to sustain the oil economy vs the green economy, thus its us vs them.. you know.. oil will last forever, lets keep pumping it vs lets make some changes and move to a more energy independent/green economy.
For all intents and purposes AGW is real. The reality of not acting is the collapse of humanity, dollar be damned. Thus justifying inaction on how much it may cost is essentially denying the science of AGW no matter how hard you try and spin it. IE presenting a choice between spending money and not spending money is presenting a false choice. We have to make broad changes to our society while the dollar still has value.
Its cheap enough, its selection is big enough and the keep 10 incentive/deal makes it very affordable. Not only that but the software is pretty cool, integrates with zune hardware, xbox 360 and remote windows media players easily.
I could say the same for netlix.. i quit using torrent for tv since instant watch has plenty of things for me to watch and quite franky i enjoy waiting a few months until all episodes are available on disk or on demand instead of waiting a week between each episode and planning my life around tv.
Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. Also, having jumped into the Windows Phone 7 development fire Silverlight seems like a godsend to develop in compared to Apple's sdk
He just pulled the blinders down and people buy it.
The "Web" is not device compliant. I'm sorry, but HTML5 isn't touch aware, it isn't battery aware, it isn't "reliability, security and performance" aware - it is what it is. He knows this and he's baiting the industry hook line and sinker to think that the eco-system he is building is open when Steve knows full well people will chose the apps over the web experience. Jobs has NO incentive to lead the open standards industry into the future and has every incentive to do so with their proprietary solutions.
Apple could work with Microsoft, Adobe and Oracle to make everything touch aware and open up their patent portfolio to lead the industry to a standard touch interface but that is the LAST thing Apple wants to do.
Flash is no saint.. its not perfect by any means, however Apple isn't perfect either and the last thing i want to see is the industry deceived in the name of progress that is progress for all the wrong reasons.
Now i can google those documents i printed! I trust when i print those health care receipts for my HSA that have my social security, HSA account numbers and my direct deposit info google will keep it nice and secure for eternity! wow, thanks google! Your never delete policy is awesome!
Google has it easy Towns bend over backwards to get them to build and locate within their locality. With that being said the tax payers are often stiffed with the "perks" and "Abatement's" that are guaranteed to Google and one of them is usually always the huge cost of power utility and infrastructure that Google doesn't necessarily absorb. With that said, Google should be responsive to the local government and regulatory committees and not be so defensive to them. Its ok to say "bad idea", its okay to say "This can hurt our engineering" but remember Google, you're plugged into a utility grid that the "people" put there for you so if you want to be the biggest consumer thereof, you have to play within the "commission" of those people.
Yes google, I admire you, but I admire you for what you can do and have done. Becoming more of a "black box" that gets its own way isn't what I hope to see. If the regulation/law/policy is bad, speak to it directly, not in vague assertations. Show the world your engineering ability and how to do it right if you feel you have that technology.
Maybe the Internet was social to begin with?

My experience with Oracle Grid Computing tells me you don't quite understand the capabilities of their RDBMS/Grid Platforms.
"We the people".. The government is us. Not sure why people forget this..

Dell and HP both have new netbooks announced.. Both of which are pretty nice. The HP one is absolutely smoking.
