    You really don't grasp the difference between an insult and directly advocating violence? Seriously?

    Here's Article III Section 3 of the Constitution-

    Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

    Considering that al-Awlaki essentially posted his confession online, that's a pretty open and shut case. Ideally, he should be captured and tried in open court. But I would hate to see soldiers die trying to capture him.

    No. He didn't say that Americans deserved death. That is abstract. He joined a group that has killed thousands of American and actively advocated killing more Americans. That fits the legal definition of Treason.

    Anwar al-Awlaki posted videos urging all Muslims to commit violence against American civilians. Regardless of his specific role within al Qaeda, he certainly declared himself an "enemy combatant".

    They know how many people worked on the game for how long. It's their job to be able to estimate how much that cost. The marketing budget is much easier to estimate because they know how much TV air time and print space Rockstar bought and how much that costs.

    The point is that Hollywood accounting comes from the studio involved. These numbers do not.

    I only played about 10 hours of it and I agree with a lot of your criticisms. But as far as critical and user acclaim, as recorded by metacritic, GTA V is right near the top of the heap.

    Grand Theft Auto V cost $150M to develop and $150M to market. The GTA games have been the benchmark of AAA games for almost 15 years.

    I have never heard anyone describe any of them as turds in a pretty box.

    The rule as far as trademarks is that the word can't "disparage persons or bring them into contempt or disrepute". I don't see any argument that Indians, Chiefs, Braves, or Blackhawks meet that standard.

    This is not a free speech issue. You are allowed to say and write "redskin" anywhere you wish. You just can't trademark it.

    It's amazing how many rabid free speech advocates on this site have no clue about what free speech actually is. I'm going to assume that most of them are in 9th grade.

    The plaintiffs in the current case say they're immune to the issue raised by the appellate court in the previous case. We will see if that's true.

    The Blackhawks are named after an Army unit, which was named after a guy. There have been protests over the logo, but the name isn't particularly offensive to anyone. There is virtually no chance that any other major team name would be found "disparaging".

    It's pretty widely believed that Japan essentially *has* nuclear weapons. But by not completing the final assembly of the warheads, they don't violate the nuclear nonproliferation treaty. Estimates on how much time it would take to assemble the warheads should they decide to violate that treaty range from hours to months.

    The Beetle was not a typical mid-century car. They built 20 million of them over 60 years because it was such an extraordinarily cheap and reliable vehicle.
