Those money laundering rules apply to any currencies handled by US businesses, including casino chips. The government is not trying to shut down the casino industry. They just require you to record information from your customers.

HSBC was not a party to the money laundering. They were fined for insufficient oversight, which allowed other people to launder money.

In this case, the guy is being charged with direct involvement in the money laundering.

Why in the world the UK, with a supposedly "ELECTED" and "DEMOCRATIC" government, want to follow China in erecting their "Great Firewall" ??

Why the "supposedly"? Do you have evidence that the UK's election results were not legitimate?

The British government is enacting this censorship policy with the full support of millions and millions of people who don't post on Slashdot.

I certainly don't support the filtering, but the fact that it's opt-out makes it VERY different from China's firewall.

No frigging clue, because everything done is "secret". You can assume that they have done nothing, and I can assume they have done everything.

If people who disagreed with the NSA were arrested, or lost their jobs, or were audited, or were deported, or disappeared in the middle of the night, we would know about it. Those things can't be kept secret.
