You say you are doing anything illegal, but if I were a goverment guy I had to figure it by my self (without your opinion)... and If you do suspicius things (to me), you'll find yourself having to demonstrate you are not a bad guy against a government agency... nice trial eh!

Don't be so gullible, all the info you give others about you can be used against you. And you are giving tons of private info.

Don't want to comment on the report but as I read some of your arguments, let me tell some points about business:

    * Business has no initial preference for Windows or Linux, whatever is cheaper and does the job its ok. (cheaper mid/long term of course)

    * Business doesn't care about your understanding of technology. They just want the job done and as cheap as possible.

    * Business doesn't care about the job perfectly done. They just want something that does the job and satisfies the customer. The final result is to bill them.

    * Business use technology for their purpose, but are not interested at all in technology. They just look for simple and fast solutions, not architecting a complex and feature full IT System.

    and last, but more important,

    * Business considers you just another resource. They don't want to invest in you, nor build a career for you, nor teach you to improve you knowledge. They just want you to do the job and if they invest in you its because economically its the best way to have things done.

    * Business can go on with or without you, so don't be so proud of your deep understanding of how things work. Another one will get that knowledge given enough time. And if you are in a hurry you can pay for it.

    Business=profit=no mercy... thats corporate life.

I'm not US Citizen but I have some views on that.

US Goverment has no need to go free source because have the power to have 'special' agreements with MS, in relation with licensing issues and 'special features on MS software'.

The antimonopoly trial its all a lie. US Goverment is fully interested in keeping MS monopoly as its a global monopoly. If MS was for example German, the trial would have ended other way.

MS soft on computers all over the world its a very desirable situation from the point of view of US Gov. For sure.

Furthermore, US Gov can state special agreements regarding obscure features with the purpose of getting all kind of info from users or opening backdoors.

I have no probe of that but viewing how US gov agencies work... its for sure.

It's just my point, and from this, thinking about US gov promoting free software its a joke.

Some points on International charity ...

When you dump freely big quantities of a goods into some country, you trash any goods related bussiness activity developing locally.

Also, many times, the scarcity on that countries is just a consequence of unavility to develop local economic structure, due meainly of western countries protectionism and greedy/merciless economic behaviour (Western Gov supported or promoted).

So that charity, since usefull in some moments (disasters, wars, etc) it doesn't help that countries in the long run, but keeps them from developing too.

The main reason for charity is just western countries internal marketing (politics or economics), and international geopolitics.

First of all, I don't hate any other region people. Have work and friends all over Spain.

Second, microlanguage. The number of people who speaks it its similiar to danish, finnish, dutch and many others.

Third, very few people speak English because most people don't care about English at all. Almost all schools teach english or french (badly done I think), but most forget it because it's mainly useless here (appart from being a CV skill, travelling or reading slashdot).

Fourth, I've spoken Catalan when I went to school, and there (many years ago) we had to spoke only spanish. Has changed completely now.

I don't feel being a extreme nacionalist or so and I don't complain all day about our situation (it's not that bad), but as can be seen from your mail, some people just don't understand. Nearer to you, you've got Quebec, Puerto Rico, or native american minorities, but you don't want nor have the need to understand.

    Just my point of view.

Today Spanish Goverment is pressing the hardest in 25 years of democracy, against terrorism. This goverment is legitimate (has a broad majority in parliament) but has a strong centralist (Madrid) point of view of things. Anyway it has adopted the path of ilegalization and prosecution that has arised controversy here. Some think it's time that somebody kick hard ETA and others think they are blocking this way the political arm of ETA closing all doors to negotiation.

On the other hand ETA was borned during dictatorship and has no sense now. I think ETA followers maintain outdated ways to get what they want, but they aren't able to see the problem from outside its own logic.

The relation of batasuna, eta, jarrai it's obvious to me. Jarrai perform kale borroka (street war = burning cars & busses, breaking restaurant glasses, burning cashtellers & that bad kid stuff) while ETA performs terrorism (shoot at head & bombing). Batasuna its just the political army.

But what is also obvious its that the Basque nationalism (peacefull) its broadly supported (in fact they rule Basque Goverment), and even Batasuna (and what represents...) has some hundred thousand votes on each elections.

I think banning that is closing the door to the voice of all that people, whatever they have to say.

The real value of a system is DATA, other considerations as OS, machine, coding, language, etc.... is meaningless. And DATA integrity only can be 'secured' with ACID transactions. You can use a DB without ACID only in monouser, small systems, without critical info... in other works to play a bit.
