[Being allowed to tape for private viewing]'s only a "longstanding tradition" if you are too young to remember the "Betamax case".
I've always thought that the fact that VCRs were made so hard to program by mere mortals was actually a result of the hardware companies striking back: "You wanna record our stuff? You'll have to be able to set the time first... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
I see all this WAP stuff, but i dont really want to browse the net on my phone,
And you are totally right. WAP Services based on recreating web surfing are stupid, useless, and will not be adopted, and Nokia, for example, explicitely counsels against it. Successful deployment of a WAP service will be based on sending people personalized compact information that they need when they need it. Good thing WAP is perfect for that.
The more I experience about what Lucas is doing now, the more relevant the question is whether he actually even likes episode IV to VI at all. He certainly seems to have no respect for them as finished actual works, and continues to obliterate their charm in his next efforts.
For me, it's not as much a question of how my friends that use(d) Ritalin acted when they were on it, but how they acted when they tried to stop.
So how do they act? Are there withdrawal symptoms? Can you tell us some more about it? Is the brain permanently blunted after taking them for a long time?

Open Source evangelists. I prefer that term to "Men of Zeal".
Glad to hear it, I'd darn well hope so. There is no need to 'forget' 50% of the potential new buddies right off the bat and it is too bad the writer was so glaring about it.
If there's one thing that's been learnt from the Open-Source "revolution" is that it's no good just talking about it, if you've got an idea and it's feasible to do it yourself, then what are you waiting for?
Exactly. The technology to 'empower' random people and groups to form political structures is available and accessible to motivated users right now. The question Katz steers away from in order to complain again that technology isn't to his liking, is why this motivation is so lacking.
Better or different tech for chatrooms and community webboards just isn't going to change any of the relevant impediments towards an involved society: it isn't suddenly going to make people more involved in the world outside their television, it isn't going to make them smarter and more articulate after years of exposure to advertising-propelled mind-drugs, it isn't going to quell disillusionment over being sold out to PACs, and it isn't going to create more free time for them to stay active and informed.
If the bulletin board in the local supermarket is not creating local organization, a virtualized environment in the one damn modality where location isn't an issue ain't gonna do it either.
I immediatly wonder where one gets a chainmail bikini sized for a 300 pound woman and whether the artisan was properly compensated for the incurred RSI.

Maybe I should switch to decaf.
