    True story, my mother asked me to set her computer up to use the highest resolution because that is better. So I did. And she complained that everything got small and that every time she clicked something weird would happen (she was clicking about 3 inches to the left of the edge of the monitor, and that was a different row of icons after the resolution changed.

    I would be replacing them with solar thermal plants in the arid southwest and feeder-breeder nuclear plants in the more overcast areas with an enhanced standardized national power grid.

    There is plenty of sun. You can replace 100% of the US electrical power production with a collection of solar thermal plants covering a square 67 miles on a side in New Mexico. Transportation and industrial processes each consume a similar amount of energy, though there will be some losses in the process of conversion. The world does not lack in deserts.

    Solar does have storage and 24/7 supply if you use solar thermal with a heat reservoir.

    What this does is provide something useful for large scale wind plants to do without having to load balance their inherent instability on a distribution grid.

    The greens are starting at the bottom. There have been 136 green party members elected to local office, 3 elected to state offices (all no longer serving), and 0 elected to federal offices.

    Participation in the presidential election builds name recognition and motivation for the party, improving their chances at lower offices even if the presidency is hopeless.

    As far as i know, the interface of an API is not subject to copyright and is therefore not subject to the GPL or any other proprietary licensing agreement. Sun lost that lawsuit. If all they do is call the api in the kernel, they have not violated the GPL. They would have to copy the implementation of the api in order to infringe.

    A century ago we knew that nuclear power was possible. We understood that the transmutation of elements would release energy in a form of heat, which we know how to transform into various forms of work.

    Quantum Power? There is no net release of energy in the spontaneous creation and destruction of virtual particles.

    Dark Energy? we don't even know what it actually is, if it is energy, or if it can do anything useful.

    Comparing nuclear power today to power generation a hundred years ago is like comparing a puma and mountain lion. Quantum and Dark energy at best alien beasts that may be cat shaped, like a Ceourl, and that is if they are cats at all, for all we know they may not even be animals.
