I'm no longer with Blizzard since a little before it was obvious they were going to shut down blizzard north. I can tell you it was in production then, which was 7 years ago at this point.
50% to salaries for a very large team (dev, artists, qa). About 20-25% for marketing. 10% or so for hardware (for battlenet around the world). 5% for pro voice actors. 10% management.
7 years, 100 employees, averages salary 100K works out to 70 million. That's probably a lowball for both the number of employees on the SC team and their average salary. Then add equipment, acting (voice) talent, marketing, production, management, and I don't find 100M surprising. Then again, I worked on the smaller D2 team, and I know what our burn rate was there.
They specifically say they have to put a limit because they can't guarantee they can maintain the hardware/OS to play a given game indefinitely. Maintenance costs go up over time, replacements become impossible to acquire, OS vendors stop providing support for the OS (including no longer providing security patches for newly discovered vulnerabilities!).
If the default path that everyone winds up on sucks, that's adobe's fault. Bad APIs, bad documentation, whatever, it's Adobe's inability to make the common case work that is the problem. Besides, why should vector be slow? The computations are dead easy, and can be vastly accelerated on every platform flash is on by a competent engineer.
It may always be possible to design it better, but it will not always be possible to design it provably better. I'd only require you to reach the limit of provably before discounting the remaining difference without calling them flaws.
Also the trollish moron invokes ad hominem attacks, while the brave and thoughtfully reasoning man makes actual arguments.
It's a design flaw precisely because it is demonstrably possible to design it better. Therefore the inferior of the two designs must be considered flawed.
Society has in no way killed off genetic evolution. The percentage of the population that does not reproduce is on the rise, and will likely pass where it was a million years ago soon. We just can't see it happening, because we don't have the long view.
As one example where evolution is happening rapidly: people whose brains don't know when to stop with education (ex: significant numbers of PHDs) wind up having no children.
When a hundred will get you a thousand, you spend the hundred.

Anyway, I didn't even realize that vegetables had races.
That makes you the worst kind of vegetable racist of all.
Funny. I'm actually trying to find a good beachfront in FL right now, figuring they'll have it all cleaned up by my retirement.

Again you resort to ad hominem rather than argument, I'm done with you, even if you don't understand ad hominem. Enjoy your day.
Provably with regards to, for example, accident statistics. Which was the point of, I don't know, the gggp or so.
For practicalities and economics, I again think that case is made by the success of competitor's designs.

You think its the flash _games_ fault when it happens to 99.99%? I'll give you a clue its the adobe engineers that are incompetent.
And lets face it, he's not just 'an entertainer'. He's quite possibly one of the best performers ever to take the stage.
Yeah, he had that song 'toxic' you probably heard if you ever hit seek on the radio.

But that sale was recent enough not to have run out the statute.
I predict that thefacebook and facebook will be found to be separable entities, and that ceglia gets 84% of thefacebook.
I think you may need new friends. I don't use facebook, and I have lots of friends, and this has never come up.
That was the freakin best tv series of all time. I loved that show. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.
For essentially the same reason that we don't send rape victims to jail along with the rapist. It's just not what our social meme believes is just.
What, you don't approve of weeding bullies out of the gene pool, even at the cost of a smaller number of nerds?
This is much more prevalent in public schools where we train the sheep than in private schools where we train the wolves.
The sun is not on fire, nor is it burning (at least, not much, burning would not account for even 1% of the suns heat).

It may be at all frequencies, but it would seem to be a meaninglessly low floor at most.
