  1. A good trick to get bigger than MS on Is IBM on a Strategic Path to Control Java? · · Score: 1

seems to be to just buy other companies so you get bigger in the end. Not really the way it should be IMHO. Shouldn't you try to compete with quality rather than just spend $$$$ or can no one do that against MS?

  2. Re:I question whether this is good for the public. on AOL Time Warner Files Anti-Trust Suit against MS · · Score: 1

Do users really care??? All browsers are more or less the same.. they are just a window on the Internet and users only care about the content they can see, not the tool. We might care, but most people don't care. Heck most people don't know the word browser, they just think that clicking on this icon opens the "Internet".

  3. Re:Goliath vs. Goliath on AOL Time Warner Files Anti-Trust Suit against MS · · Score: 1

I think they call it "American Justice" ;)

  4. Re:Pot calls kettle black... on AOL Time Warner Files Anti-Trust Suit against MS · · Score: 1

Wow! AOL is probably the closest thing to pure Evil. It is brainwashing millions of young people and building a huge empire that controls all aspects of your life.

MS is just trying to control the internet. For some people the internet might be their lives but I rather not see AOL/TW mess with mine. Luckily we Europeans are still a bit protected from the AOL giant.. but for how long.

Sorry but I have to side with MS on this one!

  5. Re:XBox Green Screen of Death on Crashing Xbox Kiosks · · Score: 1

    Yeah.. good point.

You guys are pathetic.. you just grasp every little piece of anti MS news and consider it 100% true while every good piece of news is considered untrue.

XBox will crash just as much as any other console (ie. rarely).

  6. Re:Marketing marketing... on Sony Annouces Linux PS2 Port for US · · Score: 1

In the eyes of the Media Linux is the cool thing. It is the underdog, the last hope, etc....

Maybe not a lot of Kidz really know what Linux is, but they know it is not Windows so it must be very "cool"

  7. Marketing marketing... on Sony Annouces Linux PS2 Port for US · · Score: 1

It is just a(nother) gimmick guys. Another brilliant plan from the Sony hype machine to appear to be "the cool" guys. Sony is evil.. stay away from them! They are just using the Linux community.

  8. Usual hype tactics on Sony and AOL vs Microsoft · · Score: 1

This just looks like classic Sony tactics. Create hype for something nobody needs. Let's be honest here.. are you going to buy a PS2+Keyboard+Mouse+HD+Modem to surf??? Your PS2 will look like a Borg invention. Sony is behind the curve here... this time MS and Nintendo have all the cards. I just hope someone can get Linux on XBox asap.. maybe MS should do it? It would be a sign of goodwil and wouldn't really compete with their OS business. Wishful thinking I guess ;)

  9. What Sony want is control... on A PlayStation In Deep Blue, Or Vice Versa? · · Score: 1

yes.. just what we need. A central controlling device that can play MP3s, DVDs, VCDS, CDs ... but hey wait! This will only play special versions with (Sony) copy protection. Big Brother anyone? Just forget SOny... they want world dominance. If people hate MS they should hate Sony even more since they are much more of a threat to individuality. Just give me lot's of small companies who make cool and open devices. That is the way of the future.

  10. Well DC is turning into.. on Dreamcast Could Pick Up Inferno And Plan 9 · · Score: 2

Looks like DC is turning into a cheap fun machine. Maybe Sega should think about releasing a DC as a tech-toy for those people who want to do things like this with the machine (with more developer friendly hardware). I am sure a lot of people will find a good use for it. And they can play great games on it too!

  11. Re:Why? on Itanium Preview And 32-bit Benchmarks · · Score: 1

Well actually .Net should not be bloatware. If you are running Windows now there is a good chance that you will have FMC dlls, VB dlls, C Runtine dlls..; etc. on your system. .Net tries to unify them all.. basically a higher level wrapper for Win32. It's a good idea.. we will see what happens... Anyway to get back on topic... Anyone know how AMD is going to approach the 64 bit era???

  12. Good for Sony on Iraq Stockpiling PS2 Consoles! · · Score: 1

At least somebody is buying them!

  13. Are we kidding ourselves? on The PS2 - A Betamax In the Making? · · Score: 1

Hey! I thought all the slashdot people were so called tech-savvy. Who are we kidding? The PS2 is a big failure already. No Anti Aliasing??? (and don't give me that "PS2 can do that in software... my *spectrum* can do AA in software!) Hard to program for, non standard components, mediocre games. Sony had no idea what they were doing. DC is a much better designed machine, gamecube (love that IBM chip) looks well designed as well and XBox also has all the right bells (established technology). Since when do we slashdotters believe the hype?????

  14. So what happens when you have freeware/open stuff on Hasbro Wins Against Arcade Clones · · Score: 1

As an author of an 'Asteroids'-like freeware game this kinda scares me. Actually I made the game more as a homage to the original classic and not as a rip-off. So can Hasbro stop people like me who invest a lot of time in a game and then give it away??? Guess the world is really turning ugly :( In case you wanne know about my game : http://users.skynet.be/teamc3/driftzone

  15. Re:Sony = Magic Gate = SDMI = Loss of Freedom on New Sony Palm, With Removable Memory Stick · · Score: 1

I agree 100%... Memory Stick is evil! Were are the Palms with CF expansions??? Just another greedy company that is trying to make $$$ with a 'new' standard. People should stop supporting stuff like this and go for open standards only!
