Hate to say this, but....
you can put the kernel where the hell you want, as the official recomendation is that you copy the kernel headers and not symlink them, that way you maintain headers consistent with the programs that were compiled against them.
Seem to remember reading somewhere that can up with the theory, that "Read The Manual" was originally used, but most places that use an acronym like that, already use RTM to stand for "Release To Manufacturing" so the more common RTFM came about.
Just as an side, for gods sake, it's an acronym, it's not solidly defined, as long as you get the jist of what's implied by it, then that's all that's important!
Surely anyone who's capable of submitting a comment intelligent enough to actually be moderated up wouldn't be stupid enough to then insert a goatse/troll?
Maybe I just have to much faith in human nature...
True, but then again, this lobbyist gentleman does also already contribute to OSS projects, so I would take that to meant that he also has personal priorities on the cases that he will represent/lobby for.
I may be niave to hope/think that he would let his personal preferences over ride the potential bucks being offered by a client that would have deprimental effects on say the OSS model, but if you don't have hope what do you have.
Surely in this day and age, a lobbyist is that is tech savvy, keeps up with slashdot and contributes to OSS projects is one of our best representatives.
Okay, I live in the UK and I drive a diesel, a Rover 75 TDI to be precise, and the noise is minor, you don't even notice it until your touching around 110mph, okay from the outside is a bit of a different matter, the engine is louder, but with proper insulation there's no reason why you should notice it.
As regards to the other issues people have been mentioning such as say torque/horse power/speed etc etc, my 2.0 TDI has a top speed of 130mph on the flat (my speed not the manufacturers), it can out accelerate most other cars, and because the engine is so heavy, the overall car has great handling.
I have never seen exhaust fumes coming out even under harsh acceleration.
Just notes from my experience as a diesel driver, I don't think I'll bother with petrol again. ------------------- I choose to look this way,

Just a thought, DirectX is a M$ 'standard' and as such it is also being used on the X box, the X box has standard hardware Nvidia GPU and Intel CPU.
Now one of the most apppealing things for developers about the X-Box is the ability to easily port between PC and X-Box and Vice Versa, now does this mean that developers will only care about performance on Intel chips and NVidia GPU's? will they start being unfazed about using 3D-Now! extensions of the ability to take advantage of some of the Radeons avanced features? ------------------- I choose to look this way,

Hmmm, I'm presuming you've not been using a Radeon 64DDR with the latest drivers, I've not had a single problem yet.
Also it is true to a degree that to oust the top players would take a hell of a lot of work, in truth the only reason ATi has been generating enough revenue to stay in the game long enough to release the Radeon in the first place was due to it selling Rage Mobility chips to laptop vendors. The only way a new contender would stand a chance would be if it developed something pretty amazing, like say a dedicated GPU that could deal with real time video texture maps. ------------------- I choose to look this way,

Hmm, how long to make it intuitive...

Okay, the screen shots look damn fine, but I'm just thinking, at the moment the majority of computers users are used to the flat 2d menu systems, I can't think of any way of getting Jane Bloggs secretary to switch unless it's seriously intuitive.
Also items like application support, for any 3rd party/mainstream application to run properly it would have to have its whole interface ported to it.
Lastly good 3D support would have to increase a hell of a lot more in Linux, otherwise the only people who would be able to use it would need 1.4Ghz processors and 256Mb graphics cards.
Basically I'd love for this to succeed, but I don't think it will happen.
Just my 0.0001 pence worth.

Well I'd been sitting here for the last month trying to think of what to ask people to get me having decided that
the race boat is probably outside of my families budget, but I was distressed to see my dream gizmo not on the list, how come the
automatic solar powered lawn mower never made it? It can mow the lawn whilst I hack away at the pute.

I so hope the 'seplling' mistake was deliberate...

Can you imagine the overhead on webservers if it ran through a server based ispell?
