"What's to stop somebody from developing a Linux Distro that mirrors OS X? We've been strugling for years to find the "Linux your mother could use", and Cupertino has shown it to us."
well really, FreeBSd your mother could use:)
"As a bonus, we could engineer the new GUI to compatable with the Cocoa/Aqua APIs, allowing for source level compatability between the two systems"
The GNUStep project is working hard on that now. gnustep.org
"Is Aqua just another kind of window manager?"
kinda. What they mean by not seperated is that i guss it has a pretty low run level. also, Aqua is the look n feel for all the new system widgets, the window manager, and to an extent, the Finder and the Desktop experience.
The default is HFS+ (4K block size) which has a 32 char per node name maximum (but unlimited folder depth:) ) and i think semi-unix like permission scheme, but you can also use UFS:)
with repulicrats in office, the gov't of the 20th century has become large and bloated, the social security farce has made trouble for millions and millions to come. Maybe the government should GET THE HELL OUT OF MY BUSINESS. STOP telling me what to buy and how to think. All i need the gov't to do is keep my liberty from being violated...something it does daily anyway (taxes: they tell me where I should spend my money. Social security: they think they can save for my future bette than I can...fat fucking chance!).... rant over
vote libertarian, the only party that actually wants YOU to decide how to live.
While I dont care for AOL (though i DO use AIM), I hae the government again putting their nose where it doesnt belong... in the business world. I hate M$, hope they evaporate/disappear soon (however unlikely) but the gov't still doesnt belong in their face... let the market shoot them down (nothing lasts forever). The people that support the DoJ in their persecution of M$ are like the religeous in-your-face people that are insecure about their beliefes, in this case insecure that they dont REALLY believe Linux or what not CAN defeat M$. I have faith it will, soon enough...
I am an American and I vote Libertarian.
Mac OS X has been released (its 10 AM in Paris:) ) and its up on the apple site (apple.com/macosx/).
also, the new iBooks have been released:) apple.com/ibook
you MUST be trolling... the UI couldnt be more DIFFERENT from NT!! christ, you must be blind (or aesthetically challengd anyway) the ONLY similarity in UI is that there are some buttons (optional) at the top of every Finder window. One window (as opposed to a new one with every icon double-click) is also optional. Besides, the whole win9x/NT interface is a rip-off of NeXT (well some parts anyway)
i seem to remember hearing that almost everything will come with most ports (telnet, ftp, smtp etc) closed up (why would most macos ses need them open anyway?) Expert users can config it all they want. Im also looking forward to the Apache frontend app:) I've never heard of one being done, but if you do a security audit on NeXT boxes, they might just be pretty tightly sealed up:) Also, most CLI (read: exploitable) tools are OSS, GNU, all that so there should hopefully be few problems, and hopefully not exploitable ones. We'll see though:)
I am SO downloading that tomorrow
I got myselfa cube with 320 MB of ram and i'm LOVING it... US 2660$ and zero maintenance:)
I have no complaint with using this ATI card, as it tears up unreal tournament.
That and these other apps i use are all i need:) Like the subject says, for me this is sweet goodness
[sarcasm on]
from Claudia Schiffer(sp?), to Iman (sp?) to Kate Moss(sp?) and everyone in between, models have exerted great influence on the mainstream culture, both in the USA and abroad. I would like to extend my hand in thanking these beautiful women, for being such a strong foundation in the minds of the world's youth. I also would like to thank them for many many years of great sports Illustrated Swimsuit editions.
Thanks you, lovely ladies!

If putting a MacOs shell over DR-DOS is like putting lipstick on a chicken, putting the win98 infrastructure on MS-DOS is like putting 150 kg of makeup, concrete stilletto heals, and barbed-wire fishnet stockings on said chicken.
no this ISNT flaimbait... but "from the please-let-Apple-OEM-some dept."??? Why on EARTH would Apple, who unveiled less than a month ago a totally fanless system want to put a 1 lb. gargantuan CPU that would melt your floor without the large array of fans and heatsinks. Apple has NO interest in Intels moves (besides this being a not-desktop-targeted CPU). Apple may be pissed at Moto right now, for slacking on chip production (small chip fab facilities:( ), but there are 1000 alternatives before Apple has to sink to Intel chips... so... go Apple! (I'm getting either a Cube or dual g4 tomorrow... go educational discount!:) )
hey crackhead bob, the Sumerians spoke Sumerian, and wrote in Cuneiform, the Indians in the Indus valley originally wrote in sanskrit, a language evolved from aryan (not the racist shit, the people) people who came down into india from eastern europe. buy a clue, please.

Cowboy Bebop has possibly one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard. Such great variety! The animation is wonderfully done, and the stories are at times deep and emotional, and at other times totally hillarious. The characters are great and unique as well!
hehe good one:)
however im only ignoring 1/2 the market if by The Market you mean S&M folks, which isnt really where this is targeted (try getting your jollies from humans before resorting to computers). I'm shying away from the idea of Personality Modules, as I would rather see them develop naturally:)
