The icons mean nothing. That's Enlightenment. If you look at the window borders, thats classic E, and the icons along the left are spaced too widely to be either WindowMaker or afterstep, and are more consistent with the location and spacing of the dock used in E:)

I have Firewire and USB. I have DVD support. I have a bichin IDE. I have pretty eye-candy. I have a tightly integrated software and hardware platform. I have it all now.
Its a G4 Cube running MacOS X. Can someone tell me why an Aimga a year from now would be better than what I have now?
no this isnt a troll, I'm serious.

i think fundamental C++ language constructs throw a few wrenches into the works... by the time youve reinterpreted the code into java bytecode you stripped just about all the C++ stuff from it and then it's just java with slightly different syntax

I have yet to do ANYTHING in my everyday life that would warrant an entire partition being encrypted... and how many people here actually DO something of such sensitive nature that it would warrant needing to encrypt more than a couple files?
Looking over the emotion system, it looks like the AIBO uses a similar yet simplifed emotional system to MIT's Kismet... a few basic emotions, each with varying degrees that interact with each other to produce more complex emotions and behaviors.
While the tone of this is flameish, I would like to say that i agree with the poster. I have been using OSX for everything (except Unreal Tournament), and its met just about all my expectations (especially for a Beta!) I have NEVEr had an easier time with a UNIX OS than I have now. There's no X cruft, audio, video, everything JUST WORKS... its just like a truely stable OS9 (with more eye candy:) )
Fear not, citizen. There are ALWAYS other options. My favorite is our gradual (over the next century) move rom carbon, organic bodies to nano-sized artificial life forms:) (read The Age of Spiritual Machines by Ray Kurzweil)
well yeah, they werent concerned with efficiency, and i guess they just wrote their own compression code. they did it, im guessing, so ppl couldnt hack it up in ResEdit:(... bastards!
they have, its called Fire.app (search Softrak on stepwise.com for it). Its been around since at least the 1st few releases of Rhapsody.
Also, I would just like to say that my friend Greg hacked the AIM for Mac client ages ago, removed the ads. One would think that it would be easy with Mac resource forks and all. unfortunately no, since AIM decompresses its code eac time it starts up (thats why its so damn slow on even the fastest Macs...its basically unstuffing/unzipping its own code). But yes, he removed it and it was nice to have an AIM client that didnt take up so much window realestate:) that was way back in the 1.x or 2.x versions tho
ah yes i seem to remember hearing about that once... ah well, macos x would i assume, in which case i will have no more filename probs in about 2 days:)
I'm a-lookin' to start a new country... any takers? (heavy libertarian stance - very little government etc).

while I think the syntax is ugly and obtuse, Forth actually IS used in stuff... a forth system is used for the firmware in Macs and Sun boxen

This goes well with the rumors that sega is getting out of the HW business and will license its hardware tech to other people.

Fire.app for MacOS X (and its like) is very cool...does ICQ, AIM and Yahoo! chat :)
:)
Its only v 0.14b but seems to have lots of features (no block or warn yet tho!)
I THINK is partially based on the GAIM codebase

seriously... check out th back of like Macworld magazine they have a thing you can replace the g4 tower handles with, that will attach to a rack :)

i know youre a troll, but the G4 towers stack great when turned 90 degrees and mounted on a rack :)

lets see: a crappy backslashing OS and a vaporous programmiing language that can run untrusted yet still talk directly to the OS
:)
OR
a unix-based OS with a clean GUI, great development env. and two really nice, very REAL programming languages
The choice is yours... I've already chosen... I bought a G4 Cube
