    WTF? Apple TV has no screen which is a big part of the cost. Apple TV does not have 16GB of flash.

    fine, if you're not a wage slave and don't want to buy your own insurance, then don't. but if you get really sick or injured don't expect much care because i don't want to pay for it. and don't expect the best hospitals to take care of you. send you to the county/city run hospital where you will be lucky if they change you after lying in your own filth

    no, it was proved the software has bugs. all software has bugs. all software has always had bugs. airplane software has bugs. my honda CR-V was just patched for a transmission software bug. i was still able to drive it safely and airplanes don't fall out of the sky daily because of software bugs.

    it was up to the defense to prove that the bugs in question return invalid results or increase the margin of error so much as to make the results useless

    too bad, all the idiots who choose to drive after drinking more than they should deserve to go to jail. i'll drive a few hours after i have one drink. maybe one and a half. these idiots got drunk and drove a car

    i'm looking at straight talk myself. $35 a month unlimited everything for an iphone if you pre pay $495 for a year of service. even with the cost of the phone its like $1000 a year saved. i'll eat my ETF too and not worry about it. my wife will probably keep her iphone 4 and not care. i have a 4S and it does what i need it to do.

    might go virgin mobile. they are $30 a month but you have to buy their special iphone. out in the midwest cricket is going to start selling the iphone for $500 and $55 a month

    ok, by the end of the year 1% of the android installed base will have 4.1. i'm sure developers will be madly rushing to develop apps for the new features. meanwhile in iOS land something like 50% of users will be on iOS 6 by the end of this year if you go by the past upgrade curves.

    and there will be apps in the app store to take advantage of the new API's. lots of them. even before iOS 6 is released to the public the big developers will already have compiled their apps for the new OS and released them in time for the OS release

    the impression i get is that both are mature with slightly different feature sets and themes. apple lets their developers finish up on the feature set while google likes to tie most features into their backend and let the hardware partners sell the devices.

    very little true cool new features in both updates

    at this point i'm looking to dump AT&T and go pre-paid. I don't even care if i keep a phone for three years instead of 2. even the hardware innovation seems to have flattened out as well. slightly faster CPU, better GPU, better camera. yawn

    and at the same time almost 90% of ALL IOS DEVICES are on the latest major version

    all the features are cool but won't be seen until there are 4.1 devices in the hands of users. lots of users. don't count on seeing most of these features for a few years until 4.1 devices are the majority of the installed base

    my father in law is a millionaire and he never uses facebook. in fact he rarely uses the cheapo laptop i bought him. i know other successful people who don't use facebook. some have accounts but never use it, others don't even have an account.

    a customer supplier relationship means that you buy enough crap and send large commissions to the sales guy for simply filling out some paperwork. it only exists until someone starts selling similar products for a lot less and then your PHB starts asking why are we paying $30,000 for a server or whatever when someone else is selling the same for half the price.

      i've seen the same thing except i've noticed a lot of things get commoditized and some are still higher end where a sales person is needed.

    tape libraries for one. IBM, Sun and a few others will sell you a tape library and lock down most of the tape slots to be unlocked by buying special keys. by the time you add up the price of these licenses the total price is beyond ridiculous.

    HP will sell you a decent enough tape library with all slots usable. A LOT cheaper. they all use the same connections and LTO-4/5 tapes except with HP you don't need to pay some ridiculous commission. same with servers and a lot of other gear. its simple enough for the buyer to figure out what to buy or for few CDW sales guys to serve a lot of customers remotely instead of your local reseller coming out with 5 people to sell a tape library

    nobody is forcing you to use facebook, google, twitter or any free internet service. i use them because i get value out of them.

    oh noes, facebook knows i liked the page of some women's perfume my wife likes. its so evil the perfume maker may even send me a custom coupon before my wife's birthday because they will have her info as well.

    PC's caught on was because IBM and other "enterprise" suppliers charged ridiculous amounts for their hardware and locked in customers with support contracts and being the only source for spare parts and upgrades
