please, i hated the first iphone but anyone with an IQ in the double digits could see the world just changed right before your eyes. $600 gave you a toy with very little storage, basic email on the go and the best web browser at the time on a phone. the future possibilities were endless
but come on, everyone knows that business people aren't allowed to enjoy themselves on flights. if the IT goons didn't lock down the phones so that you can't do anything on them the company will fall apart? imagine the horror of the director of something using his phone to download a non-IT approved app like Angry Birds to play while on a business trip? the client will freak and pull the business
if you take the power away from the IT goons to lock everything down what will they do? how will they get their power trip on?
ok, i've played all the ME3 games and while good they are not that special. same with CoD and most other games i see.
walk in straight line, shoot from cover, repeat. add in a few cut scenes and dialogue for story. same with all the hyped games from E3 like last of us and tomb raider. the graphics are nice but the gameplay is crappola. reminds me of the mid 1990's "interactive movie" fad. except it was watch cut scene, do some quick game play, repeat.
baseball cards, my brother has a bunch of old ones including Mark McGuire rookie. I think he also has barry bonds and some other good rookie cards. dumb middle agers will pay lots of money for paper cards with photos of baseball players
1980's GI Joe and other action figures. look at ebay prices. dumb middle agers will pay top dollar for toys their parents never bought them
comic books, the list goes on
so WTF are you going to do with this stuff? put it in your closet, keep it in "mint" condition, kill anyone who dares to touch it and think how worth it everything was?
I remember years ago people used to write letters to the newspaper and the TV station some of which were printed or read on air. very few people cared about them.
these days the same kinds of people leave a comment on the story online. 99% are junk, a tiny few interesting to read. either way at 7000 comments no one is going to read them all. what's the point?
people pay to read the WSJ, HuffPo is free and ad supported. For all we know the people who read the WSJ don't care about leaving a comment no one will read.
it's like G+. there are a few internet celebrities on there like Mike Elgan. as a time killer/break i'll read the posts and leave a comment and sometimes argue with people. its completely useless and just like/. half the time i won't read the story. but Mike is all giddy about how his stories are getting so many comments.
when has Europe been at peace longer than 65 years?
the hundred years war between england and france before that it was france and germany the vikings 30 years war the wars of the reformation the wars of succession napoleonic wars franco-prussian prussian austrian WW1 WW2 spanish civil war
before WW2 most people could barely read or not read at all and the only job they could get was working on a farm. serving in the military and getting some war booty was more exciting. back in those days graduating high school was a major achievement.
now in the first world the vast majority of people know how to read, have a high school education and a lot have higher education degrees. why would these people want to join the army, crawl through the mud and be shot at or blown up? for minimum wage salary?
i've lived in the USA for over 30 years. came here shortly after Reagan took office. when have these issue things actually influenced an election? it's all charisma and oratory ability
Reagan had it, carter and mondale no Dukakis looked like a troll or a gnome Clinton was way better looking and charismatic than Bush 1 Bush 2 was annoying but not as annoying as Al Bore who looked like your annoying overprotective mother lecturing you on what is best for you McCain went through torture, but that lip looks like hes chewing tobacco all the time. and he's old and kind of hunched. Palin was MILF hot but not enough to beat Oblama who had the looks and speaking ability like Steve Jobs
no, the reason for an untraceble secret ballot was due to all the corruption in the late 1800's. Boss Tweed and all or watch Gangs of New York. People were told how to vote and the gang bosses went to the polls to make sure they voted the right way
having an electronic ballot where its possible to trace who cast their vote and how risks bringing back all the problems from that time
but then again kids always thought they know better than their parents or grandparents. but then today's generation of OMG i'll miss out on a WoW raid, i don't have enough time to vote is the same as the kids of almost 12 years ago when Bush was elected. all the kiddies hated him until it interfered with their bong and alcohol time
you can license FRAND patents to connect to the network and make a workable phone. the patent owners have to agree to license them to you at the same rates which they license to everyone else which are pennies per handset.
the problem is that you need those rare earths to build almost every products we want. little things like catalytic converters for cars so we don't pollute our air. even if we built them in the USA we couldn't get the materials to build them.
this did it i upgraded all of my wife's 50 some apps because she never does it and i'm waiting for her to call that she can't play angry birds. she's finally going to go android.
oh wait, she can't call because the phone app won't work. I'M SAVED
the buildings in Greenwich village date to the 1800's. unlike europe, the US states haven't bombed each other every 50 years killing millions of people so no need to build new buildings
unlike europe that has gone to war with each other every 50 years or so for the last 1000 years, the US hasn't been bombed. in some cases there has never been a reason to build new infrastructure like in the bombed out post WW2 remains of europe
it's like the wal mart attitude of just buy the cheapest no matter what the hidden costs are of buying more products to make up for the crappy cheapest product in the first place
same here. dollar wise for the initial costs its cheaper to put up overhead wires. and the repair costs are probably low enough that digging holes is always too expensive.
and the fact that when you get to the republican areas everyone is always against higher taxes so they make due with crappy infrastructure
he has 50 years of education, anything he writes is fact
20 years from now people will be saying the same thing about this supposed global warming. in the northeast it has actually been cooler than 30 years ago when i was a kid. almost every ridiculous theory about super hurricanes destroying NYC by 2010 have not happened.

most people will just get the apple TV and iCrap of their choice then. lots of games in the app store unless you want an emulator to play old games

It's just that the average slashtart thinks anyone outside the coasts is a dumb redneck
Little do they know that Texas has a decent tech industry especially telecom

tell that to the kiddies who are too lazy to walk a few blocks to vote in person and who think paper is only for dinosaurs

its the OS patents you have to worry about
maybe amazon should hire some engineers and make something new?
oh wait, that's going to take years and they need something this quarter
i might download it just to give it some ranking in the top free apps
otherwise it will be lost in the ocean of apps
the problem is that you need those rare earths to build almost every products we want. little things like catalytic converters for cars so we don't pollute our air. even if we built them in the USA we couldn't get the materials to build them.
Afghanistan has lots of these as well

So compare it to the total number of companies in the world
the buildings in Greenwich village date to the 1800's. unlike europe, the US states haven't bombed each other every 50 years killing millions of people so no need to build new buildings
and if they were to put a new charge on your bill to pay for this improvement almost everyone would riot.
unlike europe that has gone to war with each other every 50 years or so for the last 1000 years, the US hasn't been bombed. in some cases there has never been a reason to build new infrastructure like in the bombed out post WW2 remains of europe

but then it wouldn't be as cool
streamed bits are a lot cooler than playing them local
it's like streaming a movie vs watching a blu ray. the streamed is so much better
