i hated the complete ecosystem crap since MS tried to do it years ago. what happens is that you have a few good products and lots of mediocre ones that are easily beat by smaller competitors.
same here. iphone and ipad and lots of so so when compared to everyone else. amazon is usually better to buy music spotify is awesome apple is still doing the buy music thing when everyone has moved on to the subscription model
blu rays are still better than buying locked down digital versions linked to specific products and ecosystems amazon and netflix do subscriptions while apple is still a la carte
same here, i bet apple will come out with some mediocre licensing/rule scheme to make it useless
i have an iphone 4S on AT&T. i was at the store playing with a Samsung Galaxy Note yesterday. it benches at almost 12Mbps but in normal use it doesn't seem that much faster than my iphone
could it be that most phones today are still hardware limited and higher bandwidth speeds are just marketing hype?
from what i've read they will get most of the upgrades and will go to version 7.8
but even then it shouldn't be a big deal to code apps for 8 and 7. happens all the time in the app store where most apps now require iOS 4.x and will have some special iOS 5 features if you have the latest version
straight talk's unlimited data is not unlimited. they said they have a 2.5GB fair use policy. sometimes they close your account right away. sometimes they throttle you. sometimes a warning first.
this is why i don't see much value in it. but then i'm on wifi almost everywhere
AT&T allows Straight Talk to lease their network. $45 a month unlimited everything.
verizon wireless has Leap which is mentioned in the article. they go under Cricket
its just that being on a 4 line family account on AT&T its the same price for me as going pre-paid once you figure the cost of a nice phone so there is no reason to switch. if i was single, it might be different
i pay $50 a month for internet. what's the point in paying for a vpn service? what does it get me other than not being blacked out of Yankee and Met's games on MLB TV Premium?
sell your patent to intellectual ventures and make money off it, simple
the problem is that there are so many patents for similar things you'll get pennies for your patent. you have to invent a lot of different things. standards like mp4, wifi and wireless are hundreds or thousands of patents in a single product.
the days of making a mint of a single patent are long gone
i got tired of paying for cable and don't even care that most of my stuff isn't HD anymore. i plugged the cable coax into my TV and i still get the free channels at barely SD resolution
this is england but here in the US you need beyond a reasonable doubt. the cops can check the phone for prints and there is a record of movement by tracking every tower it hits. combine with CCTV evidence of stores and other cameras along with credit card transactions it should be fairly easy to show where you were
i've been on a criminal case jury and we ruled not guilty in a half hour because the cops had a weak case
you can't patent ideas, most of the iOS patents are for specific implementations on the current touch screen tech. the fact that we had some kind of pinch to zoom 20 years ago has no bearing on current tech. different screens, different algorithms need to be created.
its like cars. every automaker has patents on their cars and specific engines. yet they all operate the same way and use the same fuel. everyone just has to make their own algorithm or slightly different way of injecting and burning fuel. been like that for decades and has worked
blu ray and dvd are open standards and they have patents. along with 3g wireless and wifi
if you want your patents as part of the standard you have to agree to license them to anyone who asks at the same low rate. otherwise the standard is changed to go around your patent
not only that but samsung just spent a lot of money to upgrade to 32nm and has interest payments on the factories to make. they aren't going to screw apple and risk having no customers and just interest payments on fabs

everyone has one these days and your carrier knows where you are and keeps records. he must have had a really dumb lawyer not to subpoena these

no, they should just make up a story that people are causing the universe to expand and we need to find a way to slow it down
you need a scary story about how people are at fault to play on guilt feelings and the fear of change and the unknown
california has them, other states not so much

We have this arbitration system that so many people think is a scam because it means they can't sue for $100 million due to a billing mistake
