Well, what would you suggest to the makers of the show, if you had the chance to talk to them before hand, to do to the show in order to avoid the "The new BSG is gonna suck!" statement?
IBM released Websphere Homepage Builder for Linux a couple years ago, and that was pretty nifty for what it was. I just checked, and it looks like they didn't upgrade their Linux port of the program to the current version. It's not free, but I liked it tons better than Frontpage.
Though the pads are somewhat worn out, it is good to know that I have something to attempt in the near future.
But on a more serious note... could this have real-world applications in the future for someone who didn't have arms or hands? Could this, later on down the road, evolve into a foot-controlled robot that did basic tasks for those that needed it?
This is the first I've heard of a social class distinction when it comes to working on cars or computers. Is there really something socially preventing you from opening the hood and tinkering with things? Even if you have to take it someplace where others can't see you?:)
Good luck to them on the $2004 challenge! I'd like to hop in on that someday... if I can get my hands on the right things to make it under the price category!
I know quite a few people, including myself who are avid car and computer fanatics. It seems that our conversations drift between the two topics a lot, and we spend any amount of money we can into both areas, whichever peaks our interest, although I think we spend more time working on our cars or racing with them at different venues around the country than we do spend on our computer systems.
As for an online community, I've only seen brand/model-specific car sites. People are either too proud or too stubborn to seem to talk about all cars in general. It always turns out to be a pissing contest between import and domestic, 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder, show car and performance car, the list goes on.
The company had stopped downloads of the client itself due to pending litigation (or some other legal matter) with the Dutch government, which is supposed to happen on Jan 31. So those who wanted to get the client were SOL.
I had the client, then for some silly reason I decided to format my drives. I believe it was an "alpha" version, but it worked well. The only thing which I didn't care about it was it forced you to share files. Other than that it was pretty straight forward. It ran from the console and you weren't bombarded with ads and such. Just a simple interface: search and download. I really could care less if there's anything else there for me to use.
You can probably go to the video store and check out the BBC series. As for a new one, Upcomingmovies.com confirms that they're not sure if the movie, due in 2002, has started filming yet, or will even come out.
