If a buy a Civic and pay to swap the engine, get new mags, get a new paint, get new tires, blablabla and get to a total bill of 200 000$, do this means that a Civic is more expensive than a Mercedez?
MacOS X 10.0, out 24/03/2001, price 129$ MacOS X 10.1, out 25/09/2001, price 0$ if you bought 10.0, 129$ otherwise MacOS X 10.2, out 24/08/2002, price 129$ MacOS X 10.3, out 24/10/2003, price 129$ MacOS X 10.4, out 29/10/2005, price 129$
that's 4 times 129$, 516$, IF you come from MacOS 9 and IF you went through all versions.
Now, where's the price of your WinXP licence? Came with the Computer? I had MacOS X come with the computer too, that's one 129$ less.
Apple had that behavior before Windows went mainstream, and before Gnome, KDE and whatever copied Windows.
The behavior you want doesn't make as much sense in OS X. I mean, why make the window bigger if it is to show more whitespace and keep you from dragging content to/from an other Window?
Maybe you didn't notice it, but when the first carbon applications appeared, it was a problem. Since both the application AND the OS were using the same shortcut, it was leading to wierd behaviors. Since Apple couldn't rely on the developpers to fix it, or on the users to update the apps, they changed what they had control on.
I tried to install it once to get it to stop offering it to me - I can't, because I don't have one. Why is it that Microsoft can manage not to offer me updates I can't install, but Apple can't?
In the File menu, there's an option to hide this update and forget about this update's tree
Why do we still have creator/type flags?
Functionnality. There's a default application for a file type, but applications can take ownership of a file. Usually, when you create a file with an application, you'll go back in it sooner or later. You can change this file's mapping in the Get Info dialog, as well as access other applications to open it with the right click
This menu is apparently created by the application, not by the OS, because the key shortcut to hide the application varies from program to program.
Don't blame Apple, but the application's developper. The default shortcut is Command-H, but some developpers forgot about it and used it for other functions.
On my site (http://www.menzonet.org), Safari get's the 3 columns right, but sometime the footer wrong, and FireFox get's most of the time the 3 columns right, but the footer always right. IE7 it's sometime wrong for both.
The columns get's hoosed when the content is larger than the viewport.
What you are looking for is to transform you profiles into mobile users (have a look in MacOS X Server's features). I've been able to make that work using a Linux Server, OpenLDAP et NFS shares. It took me 4 days, but now I'm always in sync (without my iMovies).
The Apple driver can make any card who's chipset is know to work.
I've got a Sonnet PCMCIA card in my PB400Mhz who's chipset is the same as the Apple Extreme Card, when I plug it in, it's found as an AirPort card and I had nothing to install to make it work!
Sad thing is, it's supposed to work on Windows 98/ME/2K/XP, but I did'nt manage to do so yet!
I have a Intel iMac 17", it's a really nice machine, fastest Mac and fastest Windwos machine I saw in a long time (and I work as a computer technician).
I think your parent comment doesn't render justice to the OmniGroup. Has the person tried any flagship Omni product (like OmniGraffle). It (OmniGraffle) just makes Vision look like an ugly hack! It's really fast (even on a 400Mhz PowerBook G4) and really easy to use, and still it was made by a really small team of developpers, who made the original MacOS X Quake 3 port.
They are very good developpers making very good products, and I guess the Universal Binary building was just a recompile for them.
I think you missed the point...
Have a good day!
Being realistic would be quite better, no?

Yeah, and I'm still wating for that 4K78 internal build with debug flags turned off!
;)
Just kidding
MacOS X 10.0, out 24/03/2001, price 129$
MacOS X 10.1, out 25/09/2001, price 0$ if you bought 10.0, 129$ otherwise

MacOS X 10.3, out 24/10/2003, price 129$
MacOS X 10.4, out 29/10/2005, price 129$

Which is what now, between MacOS X and Windows?
I can make you an offer to solve both your problems (and I'm serious).
I'd buy that mini, you'd have money to replace your fans, we'd be both happy.
Come to my website, click on my nickname on top of any articles I wrote and mail me if you're interrested.
Better 100$ than 500$..
:P
Now, who said macs where more expensive?

Still better than Microsoft back-porting their security vulnerabilities!

It's called backward compatibility
10.4 is quite smarter regarding this, it's MacOS 9 level now (means, always OK).
Yes, 10.3 had a problem with that, but now it's OK.
Yeah! It's quite better to drop at the connection level. Somthing like Amavis-new can do with before-queue filtering with Postfix.
It is enabled if your video card supports it.
Latest.
Sometimes, the footer gets in the middle of the page.
Try closing a comment, see if the footer follows. (It doesn't in Safari but does in FireFox)
Like I said, columns gets bad when the content is larger than the viewport, like this blog, per say.
You are right!

What you can see here is that Big Boobs Works(TM)

Make your personnal SMTP server relay through you ISP's, and everything will be fine!
:)
This is what I did, 2 years and counting without problems
I guess selling more macs than they never did is part of dying..
I'd say a bank client!

Windows Picture? You mean the thing not released yet?
Fax viewer? No equivalent in the iLife suit..
True, they should have compared with WiMP and Windows Movie Maker, but there is still so much stuff missing!
That's so true!
I have a Intel iMac 17", it's a really nice machine, fastest Mac and fastest Windwos machine I saw in a long time (and I work as a computer technician).

Looking for 15 other players to raid this dungeon!
