There are a number of industrial processes that create large quantities of CO2 as a byproduct, such as air distillation.
Curbing soda pop would be like trying to stop cows from farting. Both would help, but more in the area of improved diets from having less sugar and red meat. The amount of CO2 released from soda is ultraminiscule compared to the huge amounts of CO2 we produce when we start our cars.
If we never can get a handle on the big stuff aka cars, we may as well not even bother with the (possible) small emitters such as soda pop. I also think it should be a national agenda to switch everyone to compact flourescent light bulbs, as that could help greatly. But there has to be willpower and leadership, both which seem to be missing at this time.
BTW, getting rid of the "liquid candy" is far more important to our nation from a diet/health perspective, than an enviromental one, as it has a far greater impact in this area. Obesity, with which soda plays one part, is an increasing problem.
At the proposal meeting: "We have this terrrific battery that lasts longer than any Lith-ion batteries out there. The only problem we have, that we are sure we can fix, is that one may occasionally explode."
Let's move beyond prequels let's even pass up the 24th century.
The problem is that they can't. They already invented all the neat tech in the space-faring Sheraton of STNG. So the only way to go is back in the days when there was none of it. They can't go back to the beginning, that was Enterprise. So that just leaves academy days.
He probably was the one responsible for killing Data. Berman probably didn't know how to end the movie, so he asked the janitor and he said "kill the android." I say let him hang.
So, in other words, mainstream media is a rathole. I agree. In fact, I like the way the word "rathole" rolls off the tongue so much. that I'm going to call everything "rathole" today. I'm glad he used that word, even if it was taken out of context.

So I take it you work for free? Because part of the cost of upgrading is paying somebody such as yourself to upgrade the hardware and software, which is time intensive. Plus, there is bound to be glitches with all the upgrading (like faulty hardware and buggy new software). If you weren't doing that, you could be doing something else like deploying company specific applications or web programming or whatever.
So anyway you put it, hardware is not the only cost here, and saying it can be done inexpensively is overlooking the major cost which is "labor." So, while the hardware may be cheap, the labor and all the new software cost plus retraining will not be. Taken alltogether, it will not be inexpensive, as the article alludes to.
This is a dupe scientific study, not a dupe slashdot post.
Stop beating around the bush and say he's full of gas.
GooTube
Goobe.
You heard it here first.

The fact is, global temperatures are strongly correlated with CO2 concentration. That's a mathematical fact, recorded in the ice of Antarctica.
Yes, but does netcraft confirm it?
Yeah, that's why they used OR and not XOR
Isn't asking Slashdot this question kinda like asking if water is wet, or if rock is hard, or if computers are neat?
Pink.
No, but "OMG Ponies!!1!" might win favor with many.
The FBI is part of the Department of Justice, not the Department of Defense.
So you don't know about the "black helicopters" then?

Ladies and gentlemen, Exhibit 1. Mansquito.
Yes, but at least the movie doesn't try to hide the fact that it is fiction.

Poor guy...

Just keep him off of SciFi, please.
Anything he offers up has gotta be better than wrestling.

Wouldn't that make all of us rats then? Is that a bad thing?
Given that Vista works fine without with 128Mb video RAM and 512Mb system RAM,
I would qualify that statement with "as long as you don't use a lot of video services/programs," which vista is designed to do.

I somehow doubt they'd upgrade Jenny in HR to a Vista ready machine when she can do her job with a 512MB Celeron, do you?
Actually, they will not only want to, but need to with all of the security aka bug fixes put into this version. Look at the feature list for yourself.
Will it be here before or after viable fusion? What about DNF?
Actually it'll be like vista. One day it really will arrive on your doorstep, but you won't want to see it then.
Maybe if Ameritrade would open their api, someone could write a blackjack gui for it.
All is not lost.
A commercial version is 3 to 5 years away.
Why is is all this stuff always "3 to 5" years away?? Blisterpack these things and get them out to market already.
In fact, in the UK it is now law that all public buildings must have wheelchair access anyway.
I think that pretty much sums it up. A law that makes it easier for Daleks to chase you.
My buggywhip business has been unfairly targetted
Something called Microsoft Windows has been buggy whipped for a long time. Your business is safe.
Nope. Much simpler than an ordinary PC power supply. Also much more dangerous. Imagine a power supply made entirely out of four components.
I was wondering if any old-tyme nerds would catch it.
I could never take seriously a robot that has a bathroom plunger as an appendage. Sorry.
And that new "floating up stairs" thing is pretty corny too.
it should show up as a pixel at least..
It'll probably be more than a pixel. Like an itty bitty crater with junk near the edges.
Look, here's the picture already--> o*
