All of the florida recounts even after Bush's inauguration went in Bush's favor, even with liberal media types counting them. Bush is president, fair and square, go find something else to bitch about...
Bin Laden is not worth the label of a person. He is an animal that needs to be extinguished. Simple enough.
I can't stand you hippies going on TV, saying how we're just killing innocent civilians. We could just drop a 100 megaton nuke and this war would be over in about 10 minutes. But we aren't doing that, we are trying to be as precise as possible, and maybe we are being too nice, because fuckin Bin Laden obviously didn't care about innocent civilians.
I just wish all you fucking hippies would go to China, and see how much you like it there. Go ahead and go protest there. And if you don't get run over by a tank or shot in the head, then feel free to come back here.
The only problem I have had is the lack of header files installed, so mostly when I want to compile something, I need to find the *-devel package, and install those first. As I get more and more into development, I may tire of this, and want to change distros. But Mandrake has given me a good start on the road away from MS, and I give them all the credit for creating a distro that normal people can understand.
I'm not a lazy user, but Mandrake is the first Linux distro that I have been able to use without calling a friend every 5 minutes to figure something out. I first installed 7.2, then 8.0, and I have been able to use it for most things. Now that I am getting familiar with it, I am starting to learn to compile my own apps, and set up some not-so standard hardware, like my scanner and sound card. I started as a newbie, but I am learning more and more about it all the time.
Mandrake is a great distro for beginners, but they don't hide everything, so that if you want to learn stuff more in depth, you can.
Lazy? No. Lack of knowledge because I have used Windows for so long? Yes. Learning more everyday about Linux, but I was still able to get the basic system up and running without help. Now instead of editing a stupid text file for 10 hours with no luck, I can go-back and figure that stuff out on my own time, instead of ripping my hair out.
I really hope that here in the US we can come up with an alternative to oil, not for the environmental reasons, but then because that region of the world will be worthless. The only reason anyone pays any attention to that shithole part of the world is because they have oil, and oil == power. If the demand for oil drops 90%, then no one will care about the middle east, and they can plunge back into the Middle Ages just like they want.
I guess I didn't really think about some of the points. Its wierd, because on the surface, having a camera pick out terrorists at a stadium is a good idea. The terrorists from last week were on some FBI lists. If they walked into an airport with a face recognition camera, they might have been picked up. But its a thin line between helpful and harmful I suppose.
So what is everybodies opinion of a healthy balance between liberty and safety? Why is everyone so scared of traffic cameras, cameras at stadiums, phone taps?
I am not scared of red-light cameras because I don't go through lights. I don't mind speed cameras because I usually don't speed. I'm not scared of face-recognition cameras at public places, because I don't ever plan on committing a crime. So what are you afraid of? Are you guilty of something?
People who support a government such as Afghanistan that supports and harbors a criminal such as Bin Laden, are not innocent people. They are just terrorists in training.
Actually, maybe he doesn't deserve to be killed, but he deserves to have both his knee caps shot out so he can't run away, and beaten to within an inch of his life before the police get there. People who do that kind of thing are scumbags, and they don't deserve much more than just described above.
And at least in America, rapists always get a taste of their own medicine while in prison, which makes me feel better that rapists are not killed, but instead sent to a long jail term, with a roomate who will treat his new girlfriend nice.
yeah, and it was all a vast right-wing conspiracy, just like with Clinton. We can't help that Florida is the dumbest state in the US. And Jeb Bush recused any decision making of that whole affair to other people. The only thing he didn't do was resign.
I am not against Kyoto in terms of stopping pollution. I like to be outdoors, I like to go fishing, and I have friends that enjoy hunting. I don't want to see trees gone, wetlands depleted. However, I am not willing to let our economy come to a screaming halt because we have to follow those regulations.
And why aren't non-industrialized countries exempt? A friend of mine just got back from Malasia (sp?) and Thailand, and said you practically needed a mask to wear around your face because the air was so dirty. It is wrong that countries like China, Thailand (China is the #1 polluter, I believe) don't have to follow Kyoto. That is why I am 100% against it. It has to be an equal, world-wide effort to stop the pollution.
Also, the US has so much more trees than Europe, and that counter-acts some of our pollution, so US pollution is a lot lower than you think.
No, the argument isn't we shouldn't do it because no one else has. It leads one to believe that these governments think it is as flawed as it really is, so they haven't moved to ratify it either. Because they know it will grind economies to a halt.
The Kyoto treaty is nothing more than a measure to try and slow down the US, because Europe cannot keep up with us, because Socialism DOESN'T WORK!!
All you tree hugging hippies can put that in your bong and light it up...
Can you please provide a complete list of industrialized countries that have signed and ratified the Kyoto protocal?
Also, is it ok that 96 senators voted against Kyoto while Clinton was Pres, including almost half the democrats? Including Dashcle? (SP?) Is that OK with you??
Don't people realize how much the drug companies have given us? Where would we be without them? We'd be some piece of shit country like China where medicine is sending them to "happy camps" to be reeducated. I'm so sick of these "evil, big corporation" people who think all of them are evil. These people drive cars, work on computers, eat food, get medicine right?
If drug companies cannot make profits, who is going to research new drugs?? Is Ralph Nader going to finance that? the last time I looked, finding cures for AIDS will require money, and you get that by selling other drugs. Its as simple as that.
Nader needs a few econ classes, before he opens his stupid fucking mouth.
This is just as silly as a jewish policeman or fireman sueing because the job requires work on saturdays. They knew that the job required that you work on saturdays, just as this lady can only do her job if she can type.
its sad that its not PC to say something like "There are only some jobs that physically can't be done by some people", because its the truth. People just sue because they don't like the truth.
I have been a windows developer for a couple years, but I'm getting tired of it, so I installed Mandrake at home, and I'm hoping over the next year I can learn enough to look for a linux-based programming job in a year.
I installed mandrake because of the ease of installation, hardware support. Linux will stump you, piss you off, swear at it. But once you get that [printer | scanner | soundcard | cd burner] working for the first time, it will give you back some of your confidence lost.
I liked this whole Windows-Linux battles down to types of cameras you can buy. My girlfriend has one of those really fancy camera's, with hundreds of settings. You can use that to take pictures, or you can use one of those sealed, cheap cameras with no settings for taking pictures. Both will take pictures, but if you want to fine-tune something, or change all the settings manually, you need to be able to adjust all those settings. Linux is fun because you can fine-tune everything, and its fun to learn.
Why has not one country ratified the Kyoto treaty, if it is so good? Not one industrialized country has ratified this tready, because it treats them unfair, because the developing countries don't have to live up to the treaty, but they pollute many times more than the USA. We shouldn't have to ruin our economy so that the developing nations can just catch up to us (in an economic sense).
What was the reason behind the decision to make products like Kapital closed-source? Was it to provide a way of generating revenue? Or do you plan on using product support as your main way to generate revenue?
Ok...I can see your point that we don't have a say in how China treats its people (like animals). But every western citizen from CIVILIZED countries has a right to spend their money buying Chinese goods or not. I would love to see a boycott of all chinese goods. I hope Beijing never gets the Olympics, and if they do, I hope all civilized countries boycott, because I don't want to see all of our money going to the chinese government.
I don't have any problem with the chinese people, I only have a problem with the government, and with people who think the government is right and just.
Only 26% vote for the presidency, because 50% of registered voters are too fucking lazy to get their asses out of bed and go vote. Every registered voter could go and vote, its just a choice someone makes in their life.
So there's nothing wrong with the fact that the Russian dictatorship and the Chicom dictatorship already have these kinds of weapons? We shouldn't build something to respond to the fact that our enemies already have this technology? Why don't you liberals go and criticize China and Russia for developing this stuff?
disproportionate incarceration of blacks and Hispanics in U.S.
Um...let me get this straight...so if a black person is arrested and charged with a crime, the police should just let him go, because there are already enough blacks in jail?
OK, I'll go along with that, as long as they get to move in right next to your house!
What ever happened to the notion, that if you commit a crime, you go to jail, it doesn't matter what race you, a crime is a crime...
Let's see...
your politicians vote in your favour rather than some corporations who fatten their campaign funds...
Last election, it was your goddamn country that was filling up the campaign pockets of the Democrats in this country...
some chinese wisdom: settle your own problems before meddling into other people problem
Some more chinese wisdom, if I may:
- Lets put people into hard labor camps (Did I say hard labor camps? I meant re-education camps...err..I meant happy camps...)
- Lets force people to have abortions when they already have one child
- Lets suppress free speach at any cost, to suppress the truth.
- Lets kill innocent people all throughout our "glorious" 50 year history...
media from inaccurate propoganda Um...chinese media isn't 1% truth, 99% FUD?
Here is some American wisdom for you. Give us our fucking people back, our plane back, or we will boycott your goods, and make Taiwan a nuclear power!
I think Russia has more problems and priorities than to build more and better bombs. Their number one problem should be trying to live without HELP FROM THE USA and IMF!! The only reason that Russia is even surviving is because the evil, capitalistic US and IMF gives Russia hundreds of millions of dollars each year. Of course, they take this money, and the money from selling military hardware and nuclear material to Iran, Iraq, and China among others, and use this money to build better weapons.
Also, if you hate the USA so much, why don't you go move to Russia, see how much fun it is living in Russia...maybe then you would appreciate living here.
All of the florida recounts even after Bush's inauguration went in Bush's favor, even with liberal media types counting them. Bush is president, fair and square, go find something else to bitch about...
I don't want to just see people killed. I want Bin Laden and anyone who supports him and his actions to be killed.
