I agree the title was confusing.. I thought he had run away in protest..:).. Then I thought "No he couldn't - they're watching him". Next thought: Ah! They're organizing some marathon in support to Dmitry!.. Good for all those lay-z boy hackers...:)
If Mono becomes better than the Windows version Microsoft will do everything it can to make sure the Windows version is the best system to use.... now how will they do that I wonder?
They will add extra undocumented features like in Kerberos, but this time since it's their own technology noone will be able to do anything about it. It's so extremely obvious that I pitty the blind webmonkeys at Ximian: "Hi, we are the webmonkeys, we heard you had borowed a gun to our dog friend Kerberos. Now that he's recovering from shootuing himself in the foot, can we borrow the gun? We wanna play!"
The linux kernel "jumping" from 1.x to 2.0 is the same as Windows 2.x jumping to 3.0. You don't need all the x:es between 1 and 9 in 2.x to go to 3.0. Going to 3.0 means (should mean) you made a major leap. Skipping version (MS Word 2 -> 5, NS 4 -> 6) is a completely different thing. It's is marketshare hunting.

Look at the pics.. The SGI renderfarm is a bunch of SGI machines. Txe Linux farm is a guy?.. Is that THE Linux Thorvalds??... ;-)
And I'm still nostalgic for those classic graphics from the first 6 FF's.
Lets hope that next FF movie will use the 8bit Nintendo characters!
