If you look at http://www.spawar.navy.mil/robots/land/SegwayRMP/S egwayRMP.html It seems as though it can be used in a four wheel configuration by towing for added carrying capacity. Seems as though it could have many uses while remaining simple.
An amendment that forbids the Congress from un-evenly apportioning direct funds between the various states, and forbids issueing Federal funding tied to the state's implementation of any laws, programs, or policies.
Agree on the second part, obviously first part is a bit tougher, what about more populated states, and what about states with a lot of land and not many people like alaska.
Either way personally I've always felt we need to almost eliminate income tax (just enough for the military) and hand social programs over to the states. If California wants to be a socialist system let them be. States then can compete based on what they offer and what taxes they charge and people can easily move if they don't like it. (the easily moving part, and basic human rights would have to be federally enforced obviously as some states might try to impose regimes and stop their citizens from leaving).
The main problem with the PIPA story was that it used as "facts" things that while evidence shows PIPA correct, they could be wrong. Personally I've always wanted to see a study of historical and political facts that can't be argued (Maybe get the DNC to submit 10 questions they think bush supporters wouldn't know, maybe things about the civil rights movement for example or policies that the democratic party support, and get the RNC to submit 10 questions on their side, and get historians to submit 10 neutral questions) Poll people to find out their knowlege and then ask them what canidates they support. Graph this on an questions/right vs who they are going to vote for axis.
I'm not sure if the game is just an excuse for the plot, the plot is just an excuse for the social lesson, or the social lesson is just a plot to teach us that packets are people too, I mean to buy cisco routers.
Its not that hard to balence the budget, it looked like we were going to have a balenced budget even with the tax cuts before the war. But you know "things happen", though I definatly agree we need to cut spending.
Though on the whole of it all excluding loans from other coutries, if you look at the country as a whole, you can't really say we are in debt, because if the government is made of a collection of its people, then how can the government be in debt to itself? Much of the debt is also from bonds which are more of an investment, I mean would someone say google is millions of dollars in debt because a lot of people bought their stocks, I wouldn't.
To add something, I do support social programs that help people who are guinuenly dissadvantaged and can't help themselves. Simply because a health economy thives on people living comfortably and there is no reason to be unhumane to the people who need help. But the current system needs major overhauls and the federal government simply can't just throw money at the problem expecting people to be honest.
I still don't understand whats wrong with tax cuts for millionaires.
1. Millionaires don't bury their money in the back yead, they spend it or they invest it. (Even putting money in the bank is investing the bank invest your money for you) 2. When they spend money it end up generally in normal peoples pockets, so we want to encourage this. 3. When they put money in the bank, it is usually used to provide loans for small buisnesses or for you to buy a house. Sure you get stuck paying interest, but that money goes back into the bank is is used to loan money to other people and buy stuff with. 4. Millionaries geniunly don't live like scrudge mcduck and swim in their pools of money, and if they did I'd support taxing them highly.
Now in all honestly if the federal government really NEEDED to raise taxes, for efficiency, it makes sense to tax the rich who thus in turn tax the poor by raising prices and investing less. But I'm not convensed the federal government needs more money. We need to be doing everything we can to increase the efficency of our economy so more gets produced per person so more people can have more stuff. The federal government is HIGHLY inefficient.
Yea, but approval voting you end up with the guy who simply says the most pleasing things and doesn't piss anyone off. Sometimes to be a good leader you gotta piss of a few people:) Just saying minimizing dissatisfaction isn't always great, anyone who is well liked would get a majority checking them off even if its not the person who would be the best in office.
Personally I know the mathamatical problems of IRV, but if done on a state by state level for president, and then combined with Electoral College, you wouldn't have the same problems because those problems are rare and would only exist in a few states at max. In other words it would all balance out:)
I don't think you could handle it at all, though I guess you could build the wire to be thicker on the ends so you could have a handle, I'm not sure though..
COULD EARN is the word. But there is a sucker born every minute. Do I feel sorry for them? No. Mainly because they are deluting my career field and making it harder for me to get paid what I'm worth.
Well its really hard to judge the IT sectors strength as there is no baseline. Its not like your can take the late 90's bubble as something to compare it with, I'd rather have a surviving but strungling IT sector than one built on a dream that will burst and cost our economy in the long run. Also CAN-SPAM has worked great for me, when combined with a decent filter I get almost no spam email messages, I have no idea if this has anything to do with CAN-SPAM or not, though I do love the Do-Not-Call list.
Personally I'd rather vote for the guy who has intelligent staff who can offer real insight, than someone who simply says me too. Most of the best presidents have been great because of their staff.
He didn't say encourage loan amounts, simply what you can use loans for. And yes I agree that there is some overcharging, but ultimatly if people would wise up and understand they have to pay these loans back eventually prices would go down. Or maybe the people taking these classes think the classes will pay for themselves in extra earnings, therefor the price isn't inflated.
Yes, but the supreme court already ruled on this so there really is nothing they can do is there. BTW "obsenity" is illigal just that what makes something obsence can change from place to place. But on the internet it pretty much is only child porn and encouraging minors to view regular porn.
Yes, but the basic ideas of capitolism still took place. The cats ate up all the mice, and soon there were no mice left, so the cats put the mice the endangered species list untill there were plenty of mice. Eventually after a few runs of taking them on and off the list they finally found a way to eat just enough mice so that they stayed fat while allowing the mice population to grow. Moral of the story, umm we're just food, but don't overharvest us:)
I know many intelligent people who don't vote and wouldn't play the lottery no matter how cheap it was, and many ignorant people who play the lottery weekly and would stand in very long lines to play a free lottery no matter how bad the odds. And we want to encourage which of these demographics?
Yes, but this restriction is only for video-on-demand not for PPV, apparently PPV like sporting events and such have a broadcast flag, which means that tivo just can't allow you to copy it to another device. I've heard something about TiVo automatically deleting these things after 2 weeks or something, and I think thats fair.
This isn't for recording broadcast, this is on-demand, meaning they stream the movie to you in real-time. Its basically like your TV is a thin client for a giant TiVo at the cable company. The problem with this is they offer a limited set of movies (basically whatever has been shown on any HBO channel in the last month or so). But of course HBO stops showing this movie its gone. This is done on a subscription model X dollars a month. There is talk of an almost unlimited library available at x dollars a showing, but that is a ways away as there are storage capacity, and the problems of licensing that many movies.

Well you really can only do one layer in paper.
Oh nevermind.

And the linked PIPA story is unbiased? Oh comeon.

Results would be very interesting.

I have a plan! We should use the voting procedure for a master server that Windows NT uses!
Its brilliant!

Full Quote:
"Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on the dinner menu. Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote."
So a proper Republic is where a properly informed sheep can either vote the wolves out of office, or overthrow the government.
Of course Clinton proved this wrong too when they took out the Dividian Complex.
Damn Demograts :)
Shit, did I just post on slashot and say "I know many people" opps.

That should have said
"test it, just math"
What really boogles my mind was now Einstein came up with this without the tools to test it, math. So he must have understood the why.
