Well another problem is in building a house there is a definate line draw between architect and contractor/builder. You generally know whos fault it is when something goes wrong with a building. With software you often have part time contractors who think they are architects, and noone really knows better.
Seriously? While there are some security flaws in Adobe Reader. PDF is now an open spec. You can find many open source PDF readers that do not allow the level of scripting that Acrobat does.
Personally all of this reminds me of the Mozilla saga I was heavily involved in mozilla development and all along I knew something about it wasn't quite right, but I still prefered it to IE. But everyone I had try it hated it untill firefox really took off.
Intesting, I remember the news saying something along the lines of Leon county being the only county with no change. I'm not sure there were several recounts, so either way, history is a bitch like that. Btw that last link doesn't provide the machines for the 2000 race, only the 2004 and 2006.
Yea but a publicly traded company has to reveal income. If Intel was actually giving them cash instead of just lowering their prices then this income has to be accounted for legally
I used to live in Tallahassee, and the they used the scantron system that the governor wants to implement. And I can say it is excellent. You fill out your ballot, then you walk over to the machine and feed it into the machine yourself. You then wait a second, the machine either gives you a green light or it spits the ballot out. If there is any confusion whatsoever in how you bubbled the sheet it will spit out the ballot so you have to fix it. In 2000 there was a manual recount of the ballots here and we were the only county to have ZERO difference between the machine count and the manual recount.
Ultimately the problem really lies in the insistence of doing things the MS way, instead of the Unix way. Many businesses are Unix only and could migrate to Linux easily. Unfortunately most admins are not trained in the "Unix" way, and few people are taught this training even in CS degrees. Sure we might know how to use Linux, but we still expect it to act like Microsoft. I'll be the first to admit I too am admining a Microsoft Server simply because I have tried using Linux as a Server and I simply don't have a real understanding of what I should be doing. So what we really need is training, not to better emulate Microsoft.
Doesn't matter just install the same speech recognition on the outgoing sounds. If the outgoing matches the incoming ignore it. Hell you don't even need speech recognition just classic sound pattern matching will do, a slight time delay and some small environmental changes won't fool most programs that do pattern matching.
Generally its an issue of the person receiving the email not having the capability to physically remove you from the list.
For my issue the list was regularly generated from a contact database and if your the contact for that entity your gonna get the emails. The issue was that physical paperwork filled by that entity was submitted to our office right before he retired. So I removed him from the list, the person doing data entry entered the paperwork into the database, recreated what I had just removed:) But they probably are ignoring you because they don't know how to remove you.
Define unsolicited. Lets say you do have a legitimate business relationship with me. My entity often has to send updates to all current customers telling them of changes in policy and important information.
Of course my entity is a government entity and its customers would lose their funding if they didn't listen to us, but that besides the point.
Though I did one time receive several nasty grams when someone retired and we email them. I took them off the list only to have it put back on by some data entry person. And really got bitched out for the next round of emails. I thought this guy was insane.. does he bitch out the V3agra emails too?
I admit it, I to have purposefully signed up for commercial emails that I later got tired of receiving. Instead of unsubscribing which was difficult I simply hit the Spam button on gmail. Maybe marketters need to make unsubscribing a bit easier and they might not get caught up in service wide filters.
Obviously many phones of the future will be small and thin enough that they can't possibly hold much data. They will also include the ability to take pictures and well as function as a rudamentary PDA, thus the need to store data. Yea its kinda silly, but people seem to enjoy the ability to seperate their headsets from their phones, now you can seperate the phone from itself.. I mean its data. Mostly this is useful for a camera phone with lots of storage. Trust me, when it comes to cellphones, if you build it, they will find a use for it.
?? If you are in Europe and it copies your information over, are you now running using the computing power of whatever SUN server your plugged into, are you simply limited to your local computers power. Otherwise this is just fancy roaming profiles.
Autozone? Yep many retail outlets use dumb terminals especially for computers located at the counter many that double as a POS (Point of Sale.. IE Cash Register). The question is are there companies out there that use dummy terminals for office machines. Oh sure, some do, but its not widespread.
I defiantly lean towards libertarian. And I can say neither me nor any libertarian I know thinks highly about Hillary. Hearts a Twitter? Gimmie a freaken break..
Actually all anti-depressants increase the rick of suicide.. Thats how you know its working (TM).:)
But seriously, there people with highly depressed states, that don't even have the motivation to commit suicide. Anti-depressants can lift someone up just enough to give them that motivation. Technically anyone who is severely depressed should be on suicide watch when first taking a new medication.
True, but the point is that there needs to be a fair system for paying taxes on winnings. If the company offering the prize wants to pay for the taxes, they should be able to do so simply, and not have taxes on taxes on taxes. Thats just silly.
I really don't think thats the argument, the argument is there was an affordable registration system would it benifit the humanity. Obviously if each element had to be registered it wouldn't be affordable. Now the does bring up an issue of reregistering changes. Personally I would say you should register the initial creation, and I don't see the point of recopyrighting a few small changes, just as I don't think disneys copyright should be extended if they make a few tiny edits to a movie. Your basic style would still be copyrighted, and MAYBE would could have a system in place that requires credit for material that isn't explicitly copyrighted.
Hopefully it will actually be on the lines of pay per click on associated advertisements. Make the advertisements googles or something and you can leave it up to google to detect the bots, they already have to do this now. YouTube would then just act as a broker and take out their large chunk.
Yes, because the $5-$35 registration of a domain has become such a problem. If you really don't care about your creation just post it and let the world benifit. But if you want protection you should be required to ask from the start..

Whats strange is they immediately escorted him out. Meaning they weren't threatening to sue to keep him there, they were obviously serious.
