    Yes they opened up the code, and people looked at it and decided to throw it all away and start over. That's what Mozilla is.

    Microsoft bundles AOL in their OS in exchange for AOL using IE as a browser. I think that the original poster meant it would have cost AOL to break the contract before it was up.

    Just a way of saying that the drive is slightly bigger than it actually is.

    Allowed to? Yes, they should be allowed to. You shouldn't outlaw every dumb thing someone might want to do. But why would they want to?

    But in this case they're doing it TO someone else, which is where we start outlawing dumb things. Do anything dumb you want, as long as you don't do something dumb to me.

    You're missing the point.

    Had the count proceeded under Al Gore's methodology, Bush would have won fairly.

    As it is, Bush won unfairly. The fact that he would have won either way is irrelevant when considering whether or not things should be done fairly.

    When used in a specific context, yes. It only applies in that specific context however. You can't use the word priceless to advertise your credit cards. You can say it forty times a second otherwise, and print it on big banners and hang them all over the country.

    A lot of people seem to think that humor about a tragedy is offensive. They would probably say that it's disrespectful to the people who were killed.

    Having considered this, I'm putting myself under the General Public Humor License. It specifically states that people have the right to make jokes about my death, no matter how violent or brutal it may be.

    I assume the Mastercard lawyers know about parody being protected. If not, maybe education in law is lacking something these days.

    However, I understand their desire to not be associated with humor that so many people would find in poor taste (although I find it pretty funny). Do businesses today know anything about politely asking?

    This attitude towards people is really annoying and insulting. We're not fruit, and we're not something to just be harvested. We'll end up really being that way sometime soon though if this continues.

    If you run the win2k and 98 ones side by side you'll see that the 2000 one has numbers and symbols that are much easier to see and recognize quickly.

    Actually, the Win2k version of Minesweeper is much nicer than the version in 95 or 98. I haven't tried ME.

    From what I've seen of it, it looks great, but BeOS supports my network card (via-rhine) and my USB mouse. QNX supports neither. Any idea when they plan to get that in there?

    In Win2k the shortcut keys are not underlined until you hit Alt. It is possible to change that so that they're always underlined. I assume the behavior is the same in XP.

    This may seem slightly out of place in the context of video games, but it fits perfectly with some other legislation we've had recently.

    Yes, but if you're the only person who owns a Mercedes, it doesn't significantly hurt your ability to use it. If you're the only one to own a Mac, nobody is going to develop software for it. An OS needs a fairly significant chunk of the market or it will really be hurt by software availability.
