    I agree.
    I'd be really interested in a way to slow down my drives.

    My system is old, and my 5400rpm drives quiet. But my 7200rpm drive is noisy as hell. If only I could slow it down to 5400 rpm. I don't care about performance.

    This is at night. Elecricity is cheap at night.
    Well, at least in my country, where nuclear power plants like to have a steady load.

    Computing on workstations at night is probably waaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than on a supercomputer during the day, then ;-)

    Generating this power is not such a big deal.
    Of course your laptop adapter would be MUCH bigger..
    But I'd be really worried about the temperature of the battery after the charge.

    Batteries suck at least wrt lifetime.
    My laptop is 2.5 years old, the battery is mostly dead (lasts less than 20 minutes). And a replacement battery is sold by Sony at 300 euros. This is not "good enough" for me.

    Actually that's not true.
    Since Apple has already a huge market share, selling more mp3 players than creative is not enough. If they sell just slighty more ipods than creative, they could very well be losing market share. When you are the market leader, you have to sell MUCH more than your competitors to keep your market share.

    Well, airplanes also create some kind of vacuum on the top side of their wings.

    Above the wing, the air has a longer path to go through than the air under the wing, and so is going faster, hence a lower pressure. (i.e some kind of vacuum). This somewhat pulls the plane up.

    People enjoy the game, even though they know that in the long term they lose money. They pay for the excitement of the game.

    I can't find this price anywhere.
    And it seems _really_ low.
    I would expect a price at least twice higher.

    Ok, $2 million is starting price, but on Cray's website they say the configuration can be as "small" as 96 CPUs.

    So it's maybe $2 million for 96 CPUs.
    (Still fairly cheap for a Cray, if you ask me)

    That should have been modded as 'insightful', rather than 'funny'.
    I'm quite sure some people would get scared by seeing their energy (potential of destruction) growing that much faster (quadratively) than their speed, with an 'E' display on the dashboard.
