Look, J*h*v*h gave us the sun just like any other tool that we can exploit to our own advantage. I intend to make full use of it, when I have the resources to do so.
Well, then again. Genesis had a better CPU (the 32-bit 68000, running at 8 MHz, compared to a 3.6-MHz or so 16-bit 65816 in the Super NES), but Super NES had far better video and sound hardware. Look at "Samurai Shodown" and "Mortal Kombat II".
People prefered the SNES for two reasons: this, and they already knew of all the games on the NES.
Then again most people I knew went and bought one of each.;) Problem solved!
Okay, I get to work a few minutes before the place opens (welfare job at the time), I carried a purse at the time (yeah, yeah), well, some cop goes by, sees me standing around, passes once, comes back around and starts to question me.
Meanwhile my immediate supervisor shows up and sees what's going on and explains things to the cop, and he goes away.
Meh. There's worse police stories around here. The police force in Niagara Falls, NY is teh fux0r.

Similarly, so what if you don't have anything people want on your computer? In fact you do - people can DoS it, or hijack it, or whatever, it's just like a random act of violence.

So what is the answer?
Viruses, worms and trojans are helped along by people exploiting the most common mailer, which is Outlook Express. Why is it the most common mailer? Ask the DoJ sometime, maybe? I think people with IE and OE should be notified that they are using a broken system, and "upgraded" to Firebird and Thunderbird. Firebird has the same basic look and feel as IE, and it's more stable. As for Thunderbird, well, the only POP3 client I ever used consistently was built into Netscape 3, so it was basically the same thing as Thunderbird.

Now for the topic, this should never have happened... I heard rumors about Win2K systems controlling the failsafes, that got MSBLASTER, anyone can confirm or deny?;) If so, hey, I'd like to pummel someone in the dust for this...and it hit a little close to home, remember, Niagara Falls is home to the hydroelectric plant run by the New York Power Authority that supplies a lot of juice to NYC. Not surprising that NYC was affected. Thankfully I was only affected for half an hour! Ghad.
The Sailor Moon episode known in the US as "#6 / Time Bomb" (it's #9 in Japan, can't think of the title right now) and the opening sequence to the second half of the R season (involving time travel) features folded-over clocks in a Dali vein.
It wouldn't be the first animation I've seen that had the Dali influence, just, if I bother, the first which Dali actually contributed to.;)
That's why Los Angeles is so polluted, you insensitive clod.;)
The answer to problems like smog in LA (and also Toronto, ON, Canada) is to move away from gasoline-powered vehicles, but no...
(1) People will stick to their gas-guzzling SUVs because they think SUVs are 1337.
(2) The oil companies hate to lose revenue.
(3) The populace fears change.
(4) The populace associates alternative-powered vehicles with dinky subcompact cars that can only go 20mph for half an hour before needing a recharge.
You're admitting you like James Taylor enough to know trivia about him?
I happen to have brushed up on my Beatles trivia, that's why I know... BTW, you should see on "CMT Crossroads" where he does "Wide Open Spaces" with the Dixie Chicks. He does a good job with it.:

Oh, and a highly contagious virus that can go pandemic in hours can't be a weapon of mass destruction? (Think Cholera)

Maybe, but Thunderbird looks and feels pretty damn similar to the NS3 mailer (and that IMHO is a Good Thing).

I thought some rent-a-car companies used GPS already. Then, Snopes might have the definitive answer on that. ;)

Like Sailor Moon 184. Something like

64MB is enough. It's painful running Linux in 64MB but it's certainly doable. (I only have that much RAM)

Well, hospitals at least will have backup power (generators), if they're reputable, wouldn't they?

Meh, I send all my packages by USPS (regular snailmail)... Usually it's just CDs, once it was about 15 videotapes.

I don't trust UPS, FedEx, AirEx or anyone any more than I can throw them, but the USPS is quite reliable from my experience, and cheap.
