It looks like things started going down hard last spring... Well before Bush took office. He just gets to clean up the mess that was due to overpriced stocks and too much speculation... not anything to do with Clinton or Bush really..
Its not Linux based OS, but if you want to develop applications for your handheld on a Linux desktop you have options.
For Java, take a look at IBM's Visual Age Micro Edition. It's a fair Java IDE for the J2ME stuff. Free if you don't need the collaboration tools offered in the $99 pro setup. Runtime... well that will cost you if you want to sell the apps to others, but that is another issue. They have a JVM (called J9) that supports Palm, WinCE, and a few other platforms (actually, they support ARM, x86, MIPS, etc., but you know what I mean). You pick your GUI setup based on the platform.
I know there are tons of other options out there for Palm OS application development using Linux as well. I started coding palmtop apps in C/C++ - there are Linux based commercial IDE's that you can get as a student.
Don't forget about vi/emacs/nedit/any other IDE either...there are some fantastic libraries out there if you want to go the GCC route.
Isn't that what the cable modems do? Plenty of noise out there with all sorts of Win9x boxes - course my Linux / CS server got cracked the other day, so I guess I can not cast stones here....
reguardless of what it is doing, that looks like one to me. guess I could check the source and see what it is up to...
Anyhow, web bugs - like cookies or anything else - can be used for both good or evil. There was no judgment here, just a chuckle at who they listed as sites with web bugs.
That, my friend, gives you something far better than just a server log entry. And there is no blocking it... unless you start taking notes and set up your host table to say *.evilsite.com is at 127.0.0.1

What do you mean? It would seem that Oracle ran just fine on an old PII - on the upside, want to see my new Quad processor box that just got rebuilt to run CS? Woot!
You are right though, better not tell them what is really in the rack....
Way back when, I worked at one of those home-shopping channels. Unfortunately, they were not one of the two owned by TCI, who owned most of the cable distribution at that point. Very simplified, there were some laws stating if we owned a broadcast station, they had to carry us locally. Laws were vague however, and it was very common to see TCI respond, "Sure, we will carry your channel, but you pay x10 what everyone else must. Lawsuits were filed, some won, some lost, but in the end (world according to me) it was enough to stomp growth when it needed it.
Even if they can run the ads, it does not mean they are playing fair....
The same folks who continue to run Novell probably would spring for whatever they charge..

Script Kiddies rarely come up with the hack themselves... They let someone else build the tool, and then double click the icon.

Too bad the one was a PDC...
I would prefer a "code this to opt in" in your site, rather than horking up my code with version specific HTML.

would be able to pocket half of it as part of the demo.
OSDN _used_ a webbug - a 1x1 pixel trans gif.... It could very well be just a page counter. Looking at the one I see right now.

Cookies are not the big deal. I can block those. Its the 1x1 gifs that kick off an HTTP request, with additional params that bother me.
Look at a few and you will see...
