Without trying to sound rude, you are missing the parent's point. Microsoft don't want to keep a standard and static kernel because it would then become a commodity. This is also the reason why the kernel has such an 'interesting' design in the first place IMO.
I had to get a coworker to fill-out the graphic letters just so I could post. Please pressure Taco to put his hate in check. We are not the usless people that you claim us to be.
Probably best to check the anonymous posting page before looking like an idiot. You'll notice it gives an e-mail address to post to for the exact situation you describe (blind users).
...Amnesty international (quoting ex CIA employees) call it torture but who listens to them?
I'm sure there are even less people listening to them after their most recent 'report':
Amnesty International says the United States, by its actions, is sending out a permissive signal to abusive governments and that is leading to more torture worldwide. Source
People compare September 11 with a lot of things, but comparing it with a crack-fest? I doubt that it's even *possible* to kill several thousand people with cracking, you could only cause extreme inconvenience.
Which is all true except for the fact that the write up said nothing of the sort:
The networking industry, it seems, is expected to always play a big part in detecting and thwarting such threats, as 9/11-scale economic disruption is a likely bad-guy objective.
I "acknowledge" the human suffering portraided by those photos.
I don't see how saying "It's well known that Cuba has, for the region, a decent basic health care..." is an acknowledgement of the awful state of the hospital in the photos.
Next time you buy a toy to your child (if you have any), be rest assured that there is much suffering in the sweat shop that prodiced that toy. Will you "acknowledge" that as well?
I have no problem acknowledging that bad stuff goes down in sweatshops. And I agree that I am often hippocritcal to be buying things made in those sweatshops.
As someone with no real knowledge or opinions of Cuba until reading this whole discussion, I find it worrying that you fail to even acknowledge those horrible photos.
... hunting for the definition of life is an excercise in futility, because we invented the concept.
Rather than futile, I found it enlightening to realise everything was alive. It gives you a more solid connection to the universe to know that you aren't discretely different from a rock; you are just more complex.
Snopes also says " Al Gore did not claim he "invented" the Internet, nor did he say anything that could reasonably be interpreted that way."
I created the sun, I invented the sun.
I created the Empire State Building, I invented the Empire State Building.
I created the US Banking System, I invented the US Banking System.
As you can see, claiming that you created a one-of-a-kind object is virtually the same as saying you invented it (possibly excluding the design phase, or not).
It's still a stretch to say you 'created' the computer. Saying that you created it would easily mislead non-technical people to think that you created each component from scratch. (Dare I say that was Gore's goal with the misleading quote).
It would be more honest to say that you 'assembled' the computer.
You assume that Windows developers will continue to follow whatever new path Microsoft lays out for them.
Developers will follow the money regardless of any obstacles. For proof of this, just look at any of the APIs that MS has given developers over the years (e.g. COM, MFC, NDIS). Monsters, all of them.

I find it interesting to wonder if awareness can be measured. My gut feeling would be that it will be soon precisely measurable. E.g. why couldn't you take basic computer programs and somehow map the awareness parts (using some definition of awareness)?
Perhaps the definition of awareness is too vague and meaningless?
Is ActiveX support hard to add technically? i.e. is it as simple as wrapping some DLL on windows?
Note that I understand the lock-in and other bad aspects of ActiveX. Just wondering if it is a totally philosophical decision by the FireFox team or partly a technical one.
This is the opposite when it comes to poker (the poor at math lose badly while the skillful players clean up). This is because poker is player against player; the house is not involved (besides a fixed percentage 'rake' taken for each dollar spent).
I didn't RTFA but from the comments it seems the attacks were on poker sites too.
Not all gambling sites are bad. Most Poker sites are just making an honest living, same as any other online service. What if your logic was used by a group who disliked 'hackers' and mistakenly attacked slashdot?
Vigilante justice has always been associated with these problems.
Helping the local animal shelter or helping to stop the corporatization of American civil life might seem "less important" than helping these victims, but that doesn't mean they should be ignored entirely until there's nothing more pressing.
It's only an issue when you say it in that all-or-nothing way.
In fact I would answer yes to all of the questions you asked if you replaced 'ignore' / 'not ignore' with 'ignore by a certain amount'.
After all, are you really saying that the tsunami should get the same attention from people as an animal shelter?

This seems to be the reason noone is interested in 3d UIs. While they nearly provide an extra dimension (depth), they are a pain to use because you have to keep moving things to look behind them.

Horizontal Only is really inefficient. More things could fit in smaller areas virtically or on steep verticle angles.
I have come across this issue myself while trying to develop a 3d interface (a 3d programming language). It seemed like a great idea before I implemented it (having text at any angle), then I realised text doesn't read well at all at any angle except how it is normally presented.
It was a shame because it massively limited the shapes I could use for the 3d elements. In the end I just used any shape I wanted and then overlayed the text in 2d. The result didn't look pretty.
I have a similar problem with ringtones, and it drives me crazy. Seems all phones these days come with every type of ringtone other than a standard sounding one.
After searching through the web for several days looking for a standard ring tone for my current phone I have given up. I am going to have to edit a midi file to beep or something minimal.
And even THAT got 0wned. Witness modchips..
I don't think users will have to worry about downloading an infected mod chip!

Not "no citizen" or "no person inside the borders of the USA". It's "no person", ever, anywhere, under any circumstances.
So that means you agree with the US going into a foriegn dictatorship to enforce this world-wide law?

E.g. As far as I'm aware, they could be sued by the shareholders for providing a free service to people with no benefit for google.
