Are there any open source project to enable roaming "seamlessly" between wireless networks? Greenpacked(http://www.greenpacket.com/) is working on this but AFAIK it isn't open source...
AmericasArmy and GoArmy.com will have links to the download. BUT NOT CURRENTLY! The game is still in beta so don't even bother. We've been testing it for months as I work for the web group who does goarmy.com The game is truly awesome.
Agreed. also, you can't setup a "season pass" where shows will be automatically recorded without you going in and selecting each show after your weekly download.
You also can't use this with a cable box as it, unlike the TIVO, has no way to change the channel on the cable box itself.
Also, the "keyword search" functionality where, say, you want to search on shows that have the word "Robotics" in the title and description also doesn't work.
It does make a nice little recorder to record shows from your TIVO to VCD and if you don't have a cable box you actually get all your cable channels which helps.
Mozilla has some truly amazing features that put it over IE in some ways.
Tabbed browsing being one of them. This is an idea whose time has come as even my father surfs the web with 4 or 5 browser windows open. Amongst other tab-opening options, you can set your middle mouse button to automatically open a page in a new tab which is quite a handy feature.
What else is there in the application that beats out IE? I'm making a list to stir up some trouble here at work.
Think about the sampling implications this has. It's awesome! There is a huge community of turntablists, re-re-samplers, etc. that GPL'ed music provide's a huuuuge benefit to. It is an extremely (legally) empowering tool.
There is also a Free Music Public License as well.
We, along with many others, have released a GPL'ed CD and have GPL'ed MP3's on our site. The japanese gnusic.net is a cool site too.
One thing that needs to be realized about wireless is that while hardly anyone has a wireless card in their home, you can drop one in a old boat anchor and bam, now your favorite record store --which was never wired up before-- is now an access point back to your rougue wireless switch.
Stay tuned for free wireless coming to the Wicker Park area of Chicago around April 27th.
Also an "outernet" running on this network of webservers resolving the domain names of an artists choosing. Web artists get to be their very own mircosoft.com or ebay.com or whatever. If you have a site you'd like to submit to this outernet just drop me a line.
This is part of the Dept. of Space and Land Reclamation project
There is an organization called the
Redundant Technology Initiative in England
who use donated technology to to make art installations and all sorts of other cool stuff.
We at deadtech in Chicago are also looking for donated equipment and post donated equipment on the site for artists to come get or to pay shipping/handling for.
Totally agree. Encouragement should be given to Artists and Performers to back this. This Freedom of Speech issue has been fought by them for years. The programming profession is almost totally new to this.
I for instance run a small art and technology gallery and we're putting out a GPLed CD of experimental music where each artist uses the DeCSS source code as a creative element in each of the tracks.
Lawyers, Judges, your parents, and neighbors have a much stronger personal, emotional, and intellectual relationship with music (even obscure music), t-shirts, etc. than they do with source code. The tracks can , BTW, be downloaded at circumventiondevice.com
"The FBI and/or the U.S. Marshals, with the BSA, arrive--unannounced--at the company site, with a federal warrant."
This is absolutely true. I was told to "Step Away from the Keyboard" by the FBI while in the server room. So I did. What did I care. It was my company not me getting a visit by the FBI.
My company said keep your mouth shut and let the lawyers deal with it. So I did.
They didn't come with any type of scanning software at all they just went to License Manager and wrote it all down then ran through our PO's and invoices and checked against it.
They also audited about 100 of our 150 machines
and checked against the paperwork.
They definitely asked us for "voluntary information" beforehand and we provided it. They kept up a repore with us and our lawyers via conference call for about 3 months before making their little visit.
I felt like I was holding hostages or something.
pretty wierd.
This is _true_ art and technology.
robotic art.

shaft encoders.
et al. not photoshop wank on a flatscreen.
enjoy!!!
What I'd like to see is the reverse of this...
8 logic boards in one iMac box! Ditching the iMac's cool clearish "container" makes the iMac a pretty unexciting computer...

"The path from idea to human language to source code to object code is a continuum." I'd buy it for 12 bucks.
