Cheating at chess online?? Like how, an aimbot or something? It isn't like the other player isn't going to notice when your Queen bunnyhops across the board and headshots 4 pawns in a row without missing. Feh.
thousands of dollars a year in school fees is not really "free"
Intuitively, being smart costs less than being dumb. If you had to pay for college (undergrad or grad) then you didn't get someone else to pay for it (scholarship, endowment, grant, employer, government, etc.). College is free for those smart enough to get it.
you are paying for it, maybe you should ask questions like
"why are my school tuition fees being spent on frivilous sundries benefiting 3rd party companies instead of improving my schools educational resources"
If I don't have to pay for college then: This make iPod free. This make other perk free. This make decision different from what other dumb people make. Attracting intelligent high performers is not a frivolous venture.
Bush's ideas for a new space program are simply a pipe dream with some funding
obChappelle: Mars, bitches!
Seriously though, I have to laugh when I see Bush and space program in the same sentence. Any time a goverment program gets mentioned by him along with the words "increase in funding" it means a decrease in funding or getting canned. Besides, what good is a space program when we're having a fucking good war with Iraq, under God?
Where I work, it was mostly contact worker 70% to direct hires 30% on the order a couple thousand people. They decided to retain some of their intellectual capital that was running in and out the door (sometimes to competitors) and swap the percentages contract 30%, direct 70%. Direct employment is more stable here, better benefits/job security, etc. Something like that as an industry trend may contribute to lower turn over.
1991: "Don't call, send me an email." 1992: "$10 for a CD? What a deal!" 1993: "$3,000 for a 486? What a deal!" 1994: "Check out this webpage." 1995: "I'll be out, call my cell." 1996: "I bought it all online." 1997: "The number's in my PalmPilot. What? No, it's better than the Newton." 1998: "MP3s on napster.com? No problem, I've got a cablemodem now." 1999: "Y2K? Yeah, I've got my bunker stocked." 2000: "Yeah, I finally got a DVD player." 2001: "Check out my wireless network. Yeah, all the way to the patio." 2002: "It costs more but this LCD monitor is the shiznite!" 2003: (unemployed) 2004: "Would you like fries with that?"
Here's my JE on the story. I did however give up on the fight to get my $50 mail-in rebate for the same item I had to sue over. Since this happened over a year ago I have never purchased items from Best Buy nor will I ever again.
A game called Age of Empires 2 offended the Saudi Arabian authorities because it showed victorious Muslim armies turning churches into mosques. The game was withdrawn from sale in the kingdom
I've been to some mosques that were converted from churches after wars. I even have pictures. This happened. I could understand how some Christians could get a little miffed. Could someone explain how it is offensive to Muslims?
Also, the geography "mistakes" in the article appear to be more policitical in nature than some developer not knowing where the Pacific Ocean is. Would I expect some developer in China to know about the controverial border between Michigan and Ohio that led to the Toldeo (Ohio) War?
Armed Forces personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan increasingly use the Internet to communicate with their familes back home, but there are not nearly enough computers and connections for them.
Doesn't Halliburton provide these services (among many others) to the troops? Why not start there and see if a couple of those billions of dollars of tax payer money can be spent meeting this need?
Within the decade the spinning hard disk may go the way of the floppy and CRT.
I'm writing this from a workstation around a year old that has both a CRT and a floppy. They both get used (albeit one more than the other). Just because you don't use them doesn't mean other people do the same. I'm no futurist but I predict with my magic powers that based on cost/performance CRTs will still be around at the end of this decade. Floppies, maybe not so much.
I think anyone can make a bad film. Sure it would be bad but to make something really bad you have to fall from a high place. Take the original Matrix. Good movie. Lots of potential for sequels and prequels. Look what the brothers W did with such potential. They made two of the worst movies I've ever seen on multiple levels. As far as falling from a very high place they the worst in my mind. Thanks a lot boys.:|
I can't imagine a business that has to deal with lawsuits, legislation, and government regulations not already having some sort of periodic file review in conjuction with document retention policies. Business-related documents should kept for a period. At the time of periodic file review the company should provide a list of document retention orders so that relevent documents are not destroyed if associated with legal actions, financial records, etc. I don't see it as Big Brother. I see it as keeping shiznit wired tight so companies can CYA -- assuming everyone is doing their job right. If there is neglegence/cover-up/criminal actions, get it dealt with. If not, provide evidence that proper procedures are being followed.
Morticians profit from death, so they must also be evil. Emergency room doctors profit from pain and suffering - they must be evil too
Perhaps the line connecting the design/manufacturing of guns in relation to death wasn't clear. Morticians/doctors do not perform their services with the intent to kill. Those that do, I think you might agree, would be evil.

What "death of floppies" article would be complete without a link to Floppy RAID!

Now, if 5% of people on the internet are interested in what you have done, you might reach 5 million people, but it's still just 5% of the population.
What population are you referring to, world? 5% of the world population would be around 320 million people.

Yeah, flamebait.. mod away. Whatever.
I ran this list through babelfish. Here's what I got:
screen big enough with high enough res to watch video
"I want to watch pr0n."
processor that can playback smooth divx at decent framerate
"A lot of pr0n."
GPS
"So I can know where I stash more pr0n."
bluetooth
"I want to watch, not touch."
acts as cellphone with bluetooth headset
"Two words: hands free"
wi-fi
"I already told you I like to watch, not touch."
rugged, can take a beating including static from my pant
"I like it a little rough, lots of fritcion"
SDIO
Now that's just plain dirty.

At least you got a math coprocessor. :P
I have a gf, and have had many. And I guarantee you not a one has said anything about my nails.
A high turn-over rate, eh? Perhaps they didn't tell you directly.
You from Beverly Hills or something?
Nah, just a concerned citizen trying to help people out. Best of luck and don't chew your nails! :)

2. What the f*ck does a techie that buys this need a NAIL FILE for?!?!
This isn't a personal attack but I take it you don't have a girlfriend then? There's a reason women like men with trim clean nails and no "snags".

2400 baud modem
You mean 2400 BPS modem, right?
I went to university on that chunk of land growing off the side of Wisconsin. I still refer to it as a Canadian suburb.

Please provide links to the astroturfing articles you reference.

It's been done! Check this USB floppy disk drive RAID out.

Guns are designed to kill. Gun manufacturers profit from death. Profiting from death has a certain tinge of evil, don't you think?
