    And the funny bit was Ethernet probably had the least amount to do with making a network of networks. At the time Ethernet was about the least used medium for long distance connections. It took 20 years before Ethernet started being heavily used for long distance connections primarily because it's cheaper not better but DWDM was able to carry it and work around some of it's flaws.

    Good disk performances at the expense of high CPU use. USB is the winmodem of storage it will never be the preferred method if your want performance. I expect there will be plenty of SATA to USB3 bridge chips available.

    As there is little different between the two major parties there primary goal seems to remain the only two parties anything after that is negotiable. As to the supreme court they stay until you get another super majority and the political will to try and get rid of them all again often for 30-40 years longer if they elected younger than average.

    And the supreme court can rule that unlawful, congresses only recourse would be to impeach them and put in new members nominated by the executive branch. They have expanded there original jurisdiction before. This is not a game of brinkmanship any party wants to get into unless they have an overwhelming majority and the executive.

    2x 2 socket MB in 1.5 RU is not very dense. 4 socket 32 dimm 1ru server barebones are 1400 bucks. As to power thats a long term expense at worst and it's a non factor at best. Most colo does not do metered power and often it's 15 20 or 30 amps at a given voltage so the differential cost in power is only a cost or savings if it pushes you one way or another on those thresholds per rack.

    I do not think that class of vendors are the ones that are coding apps to automatically adjust prices. I really do not see a lot of mom and pops with an inventory of 2 on amazon that's more ebays domain. If amazon wants to try and move into ebays market I'm pretty sure they could bang out a simple POS for mom and pop vendors rather quickly maybe even expand there payment system to something like square up and similar while they are at it.

    Considering that amazon has a decent API for sellers it's not impossible to keep them in sync. Many sellers are keeping multiple downstream fulfillment vendors in sync it's hard to do similar for amazon? This is a you want to sell in whats quickly becoming the worlds largest single marketplace you play by our rules if that requires you update your back end platforms that's just a cost of doing business. Obviously these sellers are investing in bits to automatically replace there items why would be updating inventory so hard?

    Letting the seller claim to be out of stock after the fact breaks the downside for them. Amazon needs to require they ship the goods that were paid for. Sellers can dynamically update there stock levels as sales via other methods come in.

    If it was not for all that right of way and spectrum used to make there network I could see the 5th applying. Same reason I do not see net neutrality applying to schools, offices, etc that do not use those rights of way.

    100 deg f in Ct have a home weather station. Backup generators make a lot fo things a lot more livable. At the time I bought my last portable unit the inverters were to costly at 10x the price for the same kw that's come down to 2.5x they are more fuel efficient and a lot quieter. Getting a generator large enough to start a whole home AC unit is rather expensive easily 10 or 20 times what your going to pay for a portable job.

    As to food etc I have a lot of family up north where having a month or more's consumables is normal. When your expecting snowfalls in the feet ranges on a regular basis your not expecting to hit the grocery store even a weekly basis.

    As to electronics most of them will be fine well past temps that would hurt you.

    Traditionally they have only been able to drill down the usage to a month or so. When you can track usage to a fine detail you can start to infer a lot of information about people.

    It's part of the fallout from building all those new homes. Ones that have piss poor ventilation no natural air flow. A big part of older home design was around heating and cooling. I own two homes a 109 year old house and a late 70's that was custom built. Either of them can be cooled by a single 5k btu window ac unit. It's all about the house design. A raised ranch has no airflow so they get hot and stuffy very quickly. They assumed that fans would move air rather than natural convection. Even the landscaping is wrong no tree's proving shade in summer for the house.

    It depends on how it was worded. There are many rights that can not be given up or overwritten by contract. If that were the case non transferable would not be legal and MS would be compelled to allow it. I doubt this ruling went that far.

    There are productive meetings and there are not so productive meetings. A lot of effective management is shielding your people from the unproductive ones and getting the right people to the others when needed. At 6 people that's pretty easy to do.

    There is a blanket exception to copyright to make things accessible. I does not so much trump copyright as the exception is written into the law. People make audio books for the blind daily. They do need to be part of on an authorized entity to do the conversion but that's not a very high barrier.

    Hard subs are broken, CC does not require the alteration of the source video just the inclusion of the CC data that can can over layered, displayed on a separate screen written out as braille etc. The issue is two fold they did not bother to trans-code the CC data from the original source and they refuse to inter-operate with external sources.

    They don't even really need to host the close captioning. They just need to open up there platform enough so that publicly available CC can be used. Platforms like xbmc already have this feature. I'd love to see a judge rule that the ADA pretty much requires the use of open standards compliant tech.

    Hard subs are idiotic the only reason seems to be to devalue releases.

    Unfortunately deaf pride or whatever you want to call it is a very prevent and prominent culture in many primarily deaf settings. The local school was protesting hearing teachers even with implants. They are pushing for laws to prevent implants to those unable to consent (effectively making it a mute point as you cant wait till 18 to decide the nerves do atrophy). It's pushed pretty heavily by some deaf teachers to impressionable young children under there care. I guess it's not different that other teachers choosing indoctrination of other political agendas as part of there teaching.
