it seems like there should be a simple and effective way to prevent the NSA from collecting metadada on you with a properly configured HOSTS file. If there were only some smart cookie that could explain it to us.
Who will, in all likelihood, just rubber stamp what the machine tells them.
I think we've had enough citizen ire about sending out tickets from red-light cameras that we're safe from that happening. Currently in most jurisdictions, the ticket has to be reviewed by a police officer (well, meter-maid) who will have to appear in court to if the ticket is contested.
But, if you're actually are speeding all over town, you're still screwed.
Because, unlike patents adding "with a computer" qualitatively changes the situation.
Checks that used to be limited by manpower can be done on every plate that goes by, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
And anybody, local PD, FBI, NSA, your insurance company, pissed off $cientologists, criminals staking out people to kidnap, crazy ex-girlfriends, can have the ability to do so.
It's a commentary made at the expense of Indian workers who, you know, just want to make a living, too.
If we're all thrown onto a level playing field (which actually isn't, given the disparity of cost of living and in-place infrastructure) and they can't cut the mustard, FUCK 'em.
That's not racist, that's judging everybody by the same measure and finding them woefully deficient for the task at hand. Granted most of the actual misrepresentation is perpetrated by those hiring them.
Do you understand the common industrial processes for extracting minerals for ores.
Yeah, it took like three hundred years for us to work most of that out. This time. It might take a couple more years to come up with new processes suited to zero-G.
Little Debbie is a cheap and easy slut. Used to be a quarter a pack up until recently. To be fair one or two varieties are OK, but for most of them, the "icing" is waxy and greasy.
I think this misapprehension comes from the idea that geeks work all hours and hence feed from vending machines at the office. The only problem with that theory is that I have never seen Twinkies in a vending machine, it's always some competitor's brand. You have to go outside, down the street and to the gas station to find Twinkies. Not very time-efficient at all.
and I want a pony. a unicorn pony. a well-hung unicorn pony.
Until these nimrods in congress actually come up with the funding for this, and given their history of cancellations, up front, this is just useless wheel-spinning that might fund a few shoestring studies that go nowhere. We'd get to Mars sooner if we put the project on Kickstarter than waiting for congress to fund it.

Well, Ken Thompson's in login.c since like 1984, so we have that much.

You stupid monkeys have a perfectly useful 3.839Ã--10^26 W fusion reactor only 93 million miles away. Get off your asses and figure out how to use it.
