The patent authors are listed in the patent; maybe we ought to email the engineers listed at microsoft and ask them what they think of all of this. MS Email naming conventions are just the same as most other places: first letter, last name.
They're in patent abstract, i'm sure they'll love to hear from us.
Remember the iMac flat panel introduction? Time Canada posted the news story to their website early monday morning, according to their normal news cycle...containing the story of the iMac FP with lots of fun pictures.
I can see it now in the keynote: "As some of you MAY have already heard (insert laughter) we have....(insert product announcements)"
The was from a graphic directly from store.apple.com on the PowerMac site; not from a little teen's weblog (heh)...the credibility is high, and all of the sites that had posted the information have since removed the graphic per request from apple. macrumors, macnn, appleinsider, mac minute, etc.
the posted specs went far beyond the expectations of...anyone.
it should be noted that the world bank, more specifically the international bank for reconstruction and development did not bank roll this project, because the human and environment costs were too great, even for them. this project was funded mainly by private contributions, lots of which are American, such as Morgan Stanley, just to name one.
This project will displace 1.9 Million people over the next year, including many unexplored aracaelogical sites in the canyon walls.
And lastly, it is believed that the amount of water being formed in the reservoir will be so great that it will put *a lot* of stress on the surrounding tectonic plates. So, casual earthquakes could become common.
But you know, anything in the name of progress...and socialism.
well, it's all realative. back in the mid 90's, dual channel ISDN was amazingly fast, and is what everyone wanted for their businesses. now a days, we know that ISDN isn't all that hot, and then the ADSL are to be considered lower end broadband. so how broad is broadband? well for me, right now, it's about 800k/sec sustained download from sunsite. kinda hot.
i've turned all of my cd's into mp3s. so, every mp3 on my hard drive i legally own. i really, truly, own all the mp3s on my drive. so, if i happen to have them in a world accessable place, say ~/public_html, and then people download them, who is ultimately responsible...rather, am I still responsible?
I only ask because I had this happen to me...I had all of my mp3s in an apache generated directory (you know, just no index page)..no one used the website but me, it was just an idex. I would only use the mp3 dir over HTTP if I needed to grab a song when I was at a friends house or something...
well..then, my website inadverantly got a LOT of traffic, and a LOT of people started downloading my mp3s, just because they were there kind of thing. then i got a lot of people who emailed me and told me i should take it offline or else the RIAA police will come and get me. I eventually password protected the directory for the sake of saving bandwidth, not for the other reason.
Just wondering what everyone thinks. The page is still at (mp3_content is still 401'd (?)) http://virga-x.adtn.net
I've been using.mac the entire time, I haven't experienced a single problem. Course, seeing as I have a free account, I guess i wouldn't get that upset when it were to go down./adam
most all browsers will get the job done, even IE...it's just nice because just about every browser, with the exception of IE undergoes fairly regular updates.

Ours is the only copy-protection scheme that doesn't violate fair-use rights...We allow (people) to make copies for their own personal use: for their computer, for their compilation disc and for their MP3 player, so they can have portable use of their music.

Explain to me how this can be done if you can't even read it through the comp. Unless of course, you go all out and record the audio, etc etc.
Yes, the links mentioned above in serial's post are valid and quite informative. Don't listen to the anon coward; the links above have nothing to do with goatse.cx. Give them a few clicks.
Aaron, you rule.
I'm glad to see them sticking up for their rights in the scheme of things. I myself own two ccTLD domains, adama.am and customs114.tv. I which nothing but the best to them all.
a looming format war? what have you called the last year? minor consistent back and forth skirmishes?
sorry folks, the format war has been going on.

What a callous suggestion by the poster.
so, who's the new slashdot editor? ;)
that's what i use, too. i used to just do user@server.tld, but that started to fail checking. damn.

alanis morisette's song "ironic" was really called "just a series of coincidences", and didn't really fit the actual definition of irony.
and isn't it ironic..blah blah blah. except, not.
now that's ironic.

Excellent post. It's just...a shame. The jaded forethought; the misguided ideals of the government.
I meant to post this up above, but the URL about the US firms bankrolling the project=
