    GPL Violation? I don't think so - it looks more like they've just glued gaim and linphone together.

    You can probably replace the missing files with stuff here.

    You'll find that in the UK both CCL and Overclockers stock a selection of the current shuttle machines. I suspect they'll be getting this one soon.

    On a 386sx20 the 0.9 series used to take about 6 hours. I always used to leave it to compile over night. It's scary to think I actually managed to get X & netscape running on that box!

    But the DVD is not what was reverse engineered.
    The player software was reverse engineered to produce a compatible player - the DVD simply contains the encrypted data file.
    Does this mean it's illegal to produce an open source wordprocessor which is capable of reading encrypted MS-Word files?

    Seems like exactly the same thing to me.

    But the "cannot be used or communicated to others for any other purpose" clause would probably be used in cases where something like WINE is being developed to *replace* the product being reverse engineered.

    1.3.something isn;t that early.

    The earliest version I've used was AFAICR 0.03. It consisted of a boot and root disk, and booted to a shell. That was it!!!

    The first distribution I installed was an early slackware one with the 0.9x series kernels.
