The idiots are the ones who can't admit that they don't know anything and try to micromanage everything.
Not to mention the stunningly small amount of techs that are willing to pick up the management job in order to get things done. I see it all the time. A place becomes available for a management/tech job and all of the techs refuse to take it because it involves to much direct responsibility and contact with customers etc., not to mention the inevitable suits. Then some sort of incompetent outsider gets hired and the fun starts all over again.
Not to mention the Flaming for fun and profit procedure:-)

Why not just put "GEEK" across it?
For a couple of years, the stigma attached to these devices will reek stronger than walking dressed up as a Vulcan or Klingon to a Trek convention.
And after that it will be widely accepted and every idiot will buy one because everybody else does so as well. Remember what happened to "computers", "The Internet" etc?
A European with a pretty bad grasp of English grammar, too.
That's correct, I do tech-support on the phone and e-mail in German, Dutch, French and what do you know? English.
Really? You represent more than three corporations as their tech support liaison from your desk in the GNUCave? Pretty amazing for a mere human.
GNUCave? I've never touched a GNU box in my life. Right now I am representing 9 companies at the same time. Those are my personal skills, not all the companies our company works for.
So what about the Dell Optiplex and PowerEdge? The Micron ClientPro and NetFRAME? Do you still say that they are inferior as well, despite their acceptance by Linux distros and large corporations worldwide? One product line does not a corporation make, young Obi-Wan.
Stupiditiy leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Anger is the way of the dark side.
Perhaps you should try bludgeoning your head, then. It certainly would make this world a more peaceful place. Mentalities like yours are responsible for starting wars all over the world. Do the world a favor, and have a heart.
I tried that as well. Any suggestions that do make sense?
Judging from the picture of the guy, and the rest of the article of course.. this is not wearable, this is a disasembled laptop. Loose parts hanging all over the place, cables going everywhere, etc.
On the other side, if the company were to take, say, a nice leather trenchcoat and integrate all the parts and wires, that would be wearable.
Second, I represent a very large number of very large corporations in doing their tech-support.
Third, the fact that these corporations have hard-earned reputations does not dispute the fact that their low-budget home user systems are exactly that: low-budget home user systems which are too expensive due to a brand name on them.
As for examining my head, been there, done that, didn't help.
Though, from what I've seen, retail systems just have too much win-hardware to be worthy of running Linux. HP is win, Compaq is win, Dell is good, Micron is good, Gateway is win, and so on, and so on.
Correction, anything with a brand on it is bad. No sense paying for a reputation a company didn't deserve in the first place anyway, now is there?
Ask your neighbourhood geek to fix you up with something, that way you get to have a real computer, and the geek gets to meet a real person:-)
You wouldn't believe some of the crap you have to swallow when doing tech support by e-mail. One of the things that always struck me as odd is the fact that people do not realize that they are dependent on the person reading the e-mail. If you piss me off, I'm a hell of lot less inclined to fudge those same rules they want me to fudge. What is it with these people?
Please explain your motivation for trying to patent the concept of a "first post", from now on to be referred to as "fp". It is a bit unclear at this moment in which way the "fp" will benefit mankind or in any other way cause you to become rich, famous or violently ill.
Hang on to that Virge card of yours, it's a bloody relic. Mine has worked for four years now, under 4 different operating systems, and it only recently got replaced. Right now it's still a display adapter, as it is prominently present as a wall decoration:-)
How well will it run with Windows 2000 and Linux
How well will it play Unreal Tournament and Quake
How much does it cost?
Will it be stable Does it use an IRQ(S3 chipsets anyone?) How well does the company do forward compatibility
I've got a Diamond Stealth III S540 card that costs nothing and works pretty much OK. And as for Linux drivers, check on http://www.s3.com/default.asp?menu=support&sub_men u=S3_Graphic_Chips&item=drivers& amp; amp;product= Savage4_395
I'd reply to this if it wasn't at -1 already. Oh whatever. If you don't like it, whatcha doing in the thread anyway? Stop wasting bandwidth/servertime.

and even more obvious you think your computer is a toy.
Of course it is a toy! Anybody who takes a computer serious enough to actually entrust valuable information to it should be shot on sight...
Ok, so I tried this on my girlfriend last night. It worked, she dumped me! Thanks a lot.
(She really dumped me, but that's besides the point):-(
Please explain?

I have no fear of Corporate America in any way.
First, I'm an European.

I think it's great that newbies come around and ask questions, because it brings new blood to the community and new ideas.
/. crowd has at least reached adolescence? Please.
May I suggest that we wait with encouraging newbies until the current

Eh...., me not American, fortunately. Me no vote Nader, or Gore, or Bush. Me vote real people...
Al Gore is 98% in love with my girlfriend... Northpole, here I come!
Does anyone make a Plasma, rather than LCD display for computers?
Philips does, but you'll need a big wallet and a pretty big desk as well. Check here and go to Products-Monitors-420P10
Sorry, can't link directly as it is a dynamic site.

Now, if you want them to do what you tell them to, you better either buy a card or buy some stock
And after having done that, whine to them, not to us.
Three were stolen, of wich the two first were done by the Brits, and the third by the Yanks.
Can't quite force our way on the Brits, now, can we?
Oh yes, we can, and we should. Any short range missiles you can lay your hands on can be fired for a small fee from my backyard...
No, but I did read "Do androids dream of electric sheep". One of these days we'll see real dogs huting rep's.
