The reason they haven't done it is weight. Trucks are legally limited to 40 tons in most places in the US. All those batteries are heavy, which cuts down on the cargo you can haul, which cuts down on your pay, which cancels out the money you save on fuel.
Do expect to see hybrids popping up in local delivery trucks. Driving in the city with lots of starts and stops and usually at less than maximum load really helps the hybrid economics work out.
Do you object to baseball games because you don't use a baseball bat to play? Will you only play play Wii Sports when they come out with a baseball bat cover for the remote?
Do you object to racing games because the steering wheel is smaller than in real life?
Do you object to FPS's because you're playing with a mouse and not a real gun?
It's a game, dude. An analogue to real life. The controller is an analogue as well. If you want to play real guitar, play real guitar. If you want to have fun pretending to play a guitar, without the years of practice and bleeding fingers, play Guitar Hero, because even with a real guitar, it's still going to be completely unrealistic (does your guitar make those crazy noises when you screw up the beat?).
I have a 17" Toshiba laptop with number pad. I use it in my lap often, and on tables usually (sucker's warm!), and I've never had any trouble with the ergonomics of the keyboard off to the side. I usually just sit a little left of center of the laptop and everything works out fine (it helps that the touchpad is left of center as well).
Kubuntu Dapper Drake, stock kernel (I think it's 2.6.15-something, I'm at work right now).
I didn't use the Kubuntu packages for the ATI drivers, but downloaded the complete package off of ATI's website (again, don't have the version in front of me, but it's whatever the latest version was last week). Used ATI's crazy program to create Ubuntu packages which I then installed. Ran the aticonfig program but had to rework the xorg.conf file (nothing major, the aticonfig duplicated the device and screen sections instead of replacing them). Essentially I just did the standard installation process, and didn't do anything special.
But it's running X7 with the fglrx drivers now.
I am having some issues with weirdly high CPU usage, but that happened with the ati driver as well, so I think that's a kernel deal.
Scientists who would have liked to study the bear are not so lucky.
Maybe the scientists who would have liked to study a grizzly/polar mix should go to a zoo, where they already exist, as mentioned in the article. I think that would be a lot easier.
Next time you state that the atomic bombs saved lives -- without any room for question or flexibility, I'll meet you at the Peace Park in Nagasaki. We'll walk across the street together to the Atomic Bomb Museum. You just hold your head high knowing the US made the right decision. Watch how the Japanese react to your confidence. Cast aside everything inside as propaganda, because that's what it'll take not to put your American / European education into perspective.
So? My American/European education is hopelessly biased by propaganda, but the Japanese, a nation with a long history of authoritarian government and absolute obediance by the populace is perfectly neutral? The same government that still portrays the war as a war of American aggression?
Baatan Death March. Rape of Nanking (or as the Japanese call it, the "Nanking incident"). The vivisection and forced cannibalism of American POWs. Sex slaves.
You're going to have to go a long way to make me feel bad about what happened to the Japanese, regardless of how justifiable the bombings were.
The reason for this is because your 1978 Mini has nothing near the emissions equipment that modern cars do. Depsite the fact that it's getting 2 or 3 times the gas mileage of a Ford Excursion, your car is probably putting out at least an order of magnitude more pollution per mile.
"To paraphrase the NRA member logic: Governments don't kill people, people kill people."
You've got the NRA member logic backwards. NRA logic says that it's not the tool that kills the people, but the people who use the tool who do it. Hence, people don't kill people, governments kill people. Blaiming it on the tool is anti-gunner logic.
Except that there's no way the Australian diesel boat could keep up with a carrier, travelling at 25knots+ for several days, without having to recharge its batteries.
Actually, for both GTA3 and Vice City, the PC version was released around the May after the October the PS2 version was released in. So we're looking at maybe 7 months. (Unless you bought a PS2 just to play GTA and Gran Turismo, like me)
So he's submitting it to 2.6, but what are the chances it'll get submitted? Isn't this what caused all of Reiser's bitching a couple of years ago? He waited to long to get RFS into the kernel and ran into the feature freeze, and then pitched a hissy fit.
Jesus, am I the only person here who's seen (and used) an Apple ][? Now I feel really old 'cause you young whippersnappers don't even remember when Apples ran off of 6502s.
That aside, I hate space exploration. I want our problems solved first.
Yeah, because nothinguseful has evercome from space research. Jesus man, science for the sake of science is what got our civilization to the advanced state is in today. You don't know the impact space technology has had on your and my life.
Until we develop the tech to do it right, Blow it off.
Yeah, Nasa oughta just sit on their asses until one day the one true idea strikes them and they figure out how to do it right. This is how they figure out how to do it.
In other news tonight, Redmond, WA is still realing from the surgical bombing that took out the majority of Microsoft's headquarters. While the identity of the attacker is still unsure, the stealth bombers did sport a mysterious diamond-shaped logo with four S's.
Mysterious men in body armor were reported in the suburbs, and gunshots were heard in the vicinity of Bill Gate's $18980000000000 house.

140mph? Is that right? It seems awfully slow to me.
That's only because you've never hit the ground doing 140mph. If you had, you'd realize just how fast that is.

Hmmmm. While I will readily admit that they suck, I'm running ATI's binary drivers under X.org 7 right now.

What a strange and fantastic world this Titan must be.

Whodathunk that one day we'd be reading a story titled "Apple: ..." with an IBM icon? Maybe I'm getting old, but I think it's kinda cool.
Technologically it beats the crap out of the PS2 although the game line-up could be better.

Dude, Gentoo even takes care of the fat ugly penguin. Gentoos are the fastest species of penguin and are really kind of sexy. Check it out yourself.
Yeah, she is a hottie.
