  1. Re:Sounds heavy to me on MIT Team Creates Shock That Recharges Your Car · · Score: 1

The reason they haven't done it is weight. Trucks are legally limited to 40 tons in most places in the US. All those batteries are heavy, which cuts down on the cargo you can haul, which cuts down on your pay, which cancels out the money you save on fuel.

Do expect to see hybrids popping up in local delivery trucks. Driving in the city with lots of starts and stops and usually at less than maximum load really helps the hybrid economics work out.

It's a game, dude. An analogue to real life. The controller is an analogue as well. If you want to play real guitar, play real guitar. If you want to have fun pretending to play a guitar, without the years of practice and bleeding fingers, play Guitar Hero, because even with a real guitar, it's still going to be completely unrealistic (does your guitar make those crazy noises when you screw up the beat?).

Kubuntu Dapper Drake, stock kernel (I think it's 2.6.15-something, I'm at work right now).

I didn't use the Kubuntu packages for the ATI drivers, but downloaded the complete package off of ATI's website (again, don't have the version in front of me, but it's whatever the latest version was last week). Used ATI's crazy program to create Ubuntu packages which I then installed. Ran the aticonfig program but had to rework the xorg.conf file (nothing major, the aticonfig duplicated the device and screen sections instead of replacing them). Essentially I just did the standard installation process, and didn't do anything special.

But it's running X7 with the fglrx drivers now.

I am having some issues with weirdly high CPU usage, but that happened with the ati driver as well, so I think that's a kernel deal.

So? My American/European education is hopelessly biased by propaganda, but the Japanese, a nation with a long history of authoritarian government and absolute obediance by the populace is perfectly neutral? The same government that still portrays the war as a war of American aggression?

Baatan Death March. Rape of Nanking (or as the Japanese call it, the "Nanking incident"). The vivisection and forced cannibalism of American POWs. Sex slaves.
