  1. Any idea on the OS that run these machines? on Earth Simulator, G5 Cluster Drop In 'Top 500' List · · Score: 1

Why is there no parameter (of supercomputers) describing the OS?

It will be nice if the OS of the TOP 500 super computer are listed as well. Does any one point to the information that lists the OS of the Supercomputer?

  2. Search information from your desktop on Blinkx and You Won't Miss It · · Score: 2, Insightful

    "search information from your desktop"

This one feature is enough to know that Blinks is not going any where.

I don't know why people are still tied to the Desktop. One of the great success of Google is that its not tied to the desktop (yeah, I know they are working on desktop tools too).

People travel and move, change computers, change system, reformat...blah..blah. All that learning over your desktop is of no good use.

Beauty of google (web interface search) is i get the same great results no matter where I acces it from, which machin I access from ...

Desktop search sucks...but the concept of desktop itself sucks in the first place.

I'm writing this from third world country. Grown up with thoughts that America is land of freedom and justice. I've admire America's development, progress and freespirit but this SCO case is scarying me!

The legal system is taken to its extreme and the in hands of greedy unethical corporations it gives scope for creating a dark dictatorship.

Ironically the very legal system that has helped shape America will ruin its freedom.

Take the SCO case, isn't it a simple case (if at all there is one)especially with a willing community (thats has hardly profited from the creation) that's open to protect SCO IP if there is any infringement

With passing time SCO is twisting and turning the case and thus clouding a simple issues.

Hope Linus ice cool head keeps community from reacting insanly to SCO disgusting tactics.

This is cant be just a software deal. The Army has to replace the existing (i'm assumption) 490,000 desktop hardware if any Microsoft's lastest (or the next three year version)software has to run on it.

if its a Hardware deal as well, where is the Headlines on DELL/IBM/HP bagging multi million dollar Army deal!

  9. Printing Vs Producing/manufacturing on More 3D Printer News · · Score: 1

What makes this article interesting is not the innovative idea but the word "printing". If the word producing/manufacutring is used, like manufacturing remote control in one solid part with out any further assembly this article would be banal. Just because "printing" and "ink-jet" and "cartridges" is used it gives a feeling that i can 'print' in anything out (women included) in my future printer upgrade!
