If someone uses the service, than a mere 8.33/mo isn't a bad price. Hopefully they don't go the AOL way where you pay for a service and then have to put up with popup adds (No Thanks!), and banner ads.
Well if you know your history, the neuclear power industry has been paying into a government account that is supposed to cover a permanent disposal facility. The US Government is actually in default of the contract, and that is why they are in such a hurry to settle on Yucca Mountain. The US govt. has been sitting on Billions that power companies paid them, without upholding their end of the bargain.
I personally use Netscape, and if a site is designed for IE, and isn't compatible with NS, I just go somewhere else. Microsoft thinks that their trash^H^H^H^H^H software IS the standard. Don't you just love monopolies?
I am still running the copy of Win '98 that was pre-loaded on my PII - 400Mhz PC. That is my windoze box, all of my newer machines are running linux. Thank god some of us aren't into the whole complain about windows, upgrade, rinse and repeat (forever!).

It will contain BSOD's and eat up your bank account of course...
Is this a new "language" or is is a library. What does this do that GL or DirectX cannot? I personally don't see a need for this when we have OpenGL and to a lesser respect DirectX (cause there isn't a *nix implementation).
What if they put an insane agreement like that on new music CD's though. I almost never read EULA's when I click through them, or break the seal of the CD-ROM case. Most computer users I know don't read them either. Hell I could be giving away my first born for all I know. I guess these click through/rip through licenses hold up in court, or it would be pretty difficult to proscecute piracy......
I can just imagine the future of CD sales. They probably will have a ELLA (End Listener License Agreement).
By breaking this seal you agree to the terms of this license............... We the RIAA have the right at anytime to enter your place of residence to do an audit, and make sure all of your music is properly licensed.
DSL is the solution to cable! For $50/mo I get a descent size pipe, in which I run 4 computers off of. I can VNC into my boxes from anywhere, and also run an FTP server. If I metered how much bandwitdth I use a month, it would be incredible.
I don't know about your Mega Merger Telco, but ours (Verizon) has a very good DSL service (at least in St. Petersburg, FL they do). I have heard my share of horror stories though!

wouldn't that be 0x11?
You could also probably afford the toll....
I hope this crackpot doesn't try to launch in Florida. I don't want accidently killing me (along with himself) to be in the Darwin Award submission.
Safer than ValuJet I bet..... :-)
This was in the works decades before President Bush got into office. You underestimate the inefficiency of our government.

Who would be stupid enough to use an online casino? Maybe I should start one. Here is my code for a slot machine.
//Winner
boolean SlotMachinePull() {
if((rand()/RAND_MAX)
return TRUE;
}else{
return FALSE;
}
}

That was the point I was trying to get at, is that PayPal is much more controversial than eBay. I guess the submitter should have RTFA. :-)
Controversy over eBay? How about the controversy over Pay Pal (the Gestapo of the 21st century).

RTFA (Article), they are planning on making regular CD sized ones that hold 72GB. I guess when windows ZE comes out we will be ready...
Intel better watch out our MSFT will start writing efficient code, and end the continuous cycle of getting a new CPU to run the new MSFT OS.
Isn't Lindows based on WINE, and from the acronym we all know that Wine Is Not an Emulator.
If I was Sun, I would work on making sure that these laws are enforced. Kinda reminds me of the old saying
"Don't commit crimes, the government hates competition"
I for one think that all Celine Dion CD's should come with a warning kinda like cigs. I can just see it now!
SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Use of this product may cause severe ear damage.
I don't think the Honda Civic has been around since 1982, so a Yugo is probably more powerful than a 20 year old Honda Civic. :-)

I wouldn't be suprised if they did, as long as you pay them $50/mo.
