If a spammer would've shown up in small claims court or if they would've appealled, then it would've been a true test of whether the junk fax law can be used to stop spam.
As it is, it can still be a deterrent if 10000 unemployed dot commers file suit similtaneously, it'll be like spamming the spammers.

  3. notebook linux on Buying a Small, Light Linux Notebook Computer? · · Score: 3, Informative

I have a prostar laptop. I bought it with Windows. I have a second disk that I've installed Mandrake Linux (8.0, 8.1, 9.0).
In looking for a replacement I called prostar and they said they would sell me a machine without an OS and give me a discount of $70.
The machine I have is pretty heavy, but they do have some lighter models.
They're quite a bit cheaper than Dell, HP, etc..

  4. Debugging Tools on How Would You Improve Today's Debugging Tools? · · Score: 1

I used to use a debugger to walk through my code as a sanity check that it was doing what I expected.

Recently I've been in an environment where the IDE was not integrated with the app server, so dubgging meant creating log infomation.

With server side programming and as systems become more complex, debugging on a single thread level is not important and in some ways irrelevent.
To find a problem I've had to grep through huge amounts of logging information.
Maybe that's where some tools development should be headed, to searching and organizing logging output.

The 'problem' colleges were have with file sharing was that it clogging their networks. With an increase bandwith, that problem changes.
The law of technology expanding to suck up all available resources still applies.
And the 'problem' of the entertainment industry trying to control content with an iron fist will certainly worsen.
