It must be a sign of the times, but did you notice that when you try to access the mirror list on Mandrake's site without signing up for the Mandrake Linux Users Club, if you click on "I'm already a member of the Club or plan on registering soon, please send me to the download page now." The page just redirects to the same page.
I have found this behaviour since I read that they are in financial trouble. I have been trying to download iso images for Mandrake 9. You can probably not blame them for this, because they DO need the money. Even at liniuxiso.org I can only get the first cd iso and not the second one. Could this be some kind of M$ conspiracy ???:-)
I don't know why this seems surprising to people. If you're working with a distributed project of this nature you'll always get some joker that will stuff up the data, just to see what happens. Any results that this project gets has to be VERY correct, otherwise they're all gonna look like bunch of tits.
I just assumed that they would be doing this when I started helping out...
I live in South Africa and we've got a TV broadcaster named MNET( http://www.mnet.co.za ) which has been offering services similar to the V-Chip since the mid eighties. Parents can enter a PIN code and a rating code. If a movie rated 2-16 starts the image and sound is encoded so you can't see/hear what's going on. I "hacked" this by entering the PIN code before my parents did. They could never figure out why that feature didn't work:-) Luckily they didn't phone the company to find out why!!!
Just how big are these sattelites, and what would be left of it by the time that it actually hits earth? Also if anything significant is left, how large would the impact be?

Hi All! I'm in South Africa and I'll be attending the Auto Africa car show on Saturday. Hopefully I'll be able to get some more feedback (and post it if anyone wants me to !), since this sounds too good to be true. Converting from South African Rand to US Dollar this car will cost less than $10 000. At 1c/km for 200km would be R2.00 or less than $0.50 . Wow!
I know that Linux Mandrake 7.2 is supposed to be released shortly. Will it include KDE2 or will it have one of the earlier versions ?
I would prefer waiting a week or two or even a month longer for Mandrake 7.2 if it has KDE2 properly integrated into the distribution.
I would reccomend anyone to check out the demo disk of QNX.
For those of you who haven't , prepare to be amazed (well, kinda!). It has TCP/IP networking, a nice web browser, and loads of stuff play around with, all on one disk! I played with it last year and I could even get 800x640x16bit colour on my TNT2, at a time when getting X-Windows to work with it was still a nightmare.
I once installed Mandrake 7.1 with ReiserFs. Everything worked fine until I wanted to try and experiment. I started up a few programs in X (using Gnome) and then pulled the plug on the PC.
It booted up nicely... file check went by in a flash... and I was back in Linux. I tried to start X up again and oops.... no X. Just loads of error messages. Being a Linux newbie there wasn't much I could do but to re-install Mandrake again... this time without ReiserFs !:-)

Has anyone got a nice list of mirrors available?
