Your votes, even if counted, mean nothing. Your privacy is at the governments discretion as are your rights to a fair trial and hearing.

I'm serious - the great North American experiment is over, its tragic.

My argument is that community-supported Free & Open Source Software solutions a superior IDE make.

Thats not an argument, thats a statement. So far you've presented nothing to back it up.

  4. Outlook/Exchange Server on How Would You Refocus Linux Development? · · Score: 1

Clone both at the API and Functionality levels. A Linux client that could talk to Exchange server and a Linux server that could talk to outlook clients would be an office killer.

  6. Re:Where's the need come from? on Water From Wind · · Score: 1
    Slight correction:

If you live near the seashore (as the rest of the Australians do) you need to worry about flooding

Australians living on the coast (about 80% pop I think) need to worry about flooding *and* drought. That may seem contradictory but seawater is not drinkable. Brisbane (on the coast) is on Level Four water restrictions with nearly all our catchment areas down to 10%-20% capacity. We have a serious water shortage.

Bollocks, the public windows DDK by its nature reveals the kernel architecture pretty explicitly. Driver writers cannot operate without good documentation on the kernel.

Thanks, good link for the installers. I will give monodevelop a spin on SUSE.

I thought that mono was really only at 1.1 compatibility with some 2.0 stuff?

  10. Re:.NET on Mac OS X Versus Windows Vista · · Score: 2, Informative

Word - .NET and C# are just amazing, and Visual Studio is a *really* nice IDE. SharpDevelop (GPL) is pretty good as well.

I actually see .NET as a real opportunity for linux. If there was a decent 2.0 implementation on Linux I would switch my web development to it just like that.

WinForms problems? I have written custom from designers for DevStudio, it would be (relatively) easy to implement a GTK or QT hierarchy, experts and designer that integrated with DevStudio.

Install linux servers (Gento's dah bomb!) and desktops overnight everyone. Nothing evah goes wrong so you can fire all your support staff. The clients will be so grateful for cost savings and increased productivity you'll get lots of bonuses.

In fact you can replace all their servers with Pentium 200's - sell them on ebay for extra money.
