Clone both at the API and Functionality levels. A Linux client that could talk to Exchange server and a Linux server that could talk to outlook clients would be an office killer.
Because its not a large number, its a tiny fraction of the population, mainly for elective surgery. And dental care is *not* socialised here - its private.

Slight correction:
If you live near the seashore (as the rest of the Australians do) you need to worry about flooding
Australians living on the coast (about 80% pop I think) need to worry about flooding *and* drought. That may seem contradictory but seawater is not drinkable. Brisbane (on the coast) is on Level Four water restrictions with nearly all our catchment areas down to 10%-20% capacity. We have a serious water shortage.
Bollocks, the public windows DDK by its nature reveals the kernel architecture pretty explicitly. Driver writers cannot operate without good documentation on the kernel.
Word -.NET and C# are just amazing, and Visual Studio is a *really* nice IDE. SharpDevelop (GPL) is pretty good as well.
I actually see.NET as a real opportunity for linux. If there was a decent 2.0 implementation on Linux I would switch my web development to it just like that.
WinForms problems? I have written custom from designers for DevStudio, it would be (relatively) easy to implement a GTK or QT hierarchy, experts and designer that integrated with DevStudio.
Install linux servers (Gento's dah bomb!) and desktops overnight everyone. Nothing evah goes wrong so you can fire all your support staff. The clients will be so grateful for cost savings and increased productivity you'll get lots of bonuses.
In fact you can replace all their servers with Pentium 200's - sell them on ebay for extra money.
It was easy for the rest of the "civilized world" to agree not to use them, because it's widely known and accepted that the US acts as the world's police force.
Good grief - only in USA Fanatasy land. Its rather more widely known and accepted that world wishes the USA would just fuck off.
It was Au$150 on special (Steal !) - Builtin Digital Settop Box - 80GB HD - Single Tuner:( - EPG - Separate SCART output for playing recordings to a VCR
Its been very reliable - never crashed and the interface is reasonable. Has 30 sec skip:)
I could never go back to a VCR - these things are great, finally seeing all the good latenight shows that I couldn't be bother programming the VCR for.
Your votes, even if counted, mean nothing. Your privacy is at the governments discretion as are your rights to a fair trial and hearing.
I'm serious - the great North American experiment is over, its tragic.
Good journey Robert
My argument is that community-supported Free & Open Source Software solutions a superior IDE make.
Thats not an argument, thats a statement. So far you've presented nothing to back it up.

Thanks, good link for the installers. I will give monodevelop a spin on SUSE.
I thought that mono was really only at 1.1 compatibility with some 2.0 stuff?

I was referring to the article poster - it should never have made its way to front page.
But yes, slash dotters seem suitably critical of it.
Definitely in the "If it sounds too good to be true ..." area. Jeeze guys, could you exercise a little critical thinking before fan boying all over it?
Just to clarify - yes I am joking :)
I would actually be happy to use Linux servers at work though I doubt I would attempt to replace a large Exchange Server.
Desktop - no chance.

You think thats a great features ? bloody hell, auto connection of events to code has been a basic feature of every windows RAD ide for over a decade.
Only on slashdot could a post saying there are similarities between the solar wind, gravitational plots and actual winds be moderated insightful
And the EU has what to do with Australia ?

And theres this horde of windows users switching to linux as well
And thank god for that, what a piece of shit.
The crap is splattering all over the bullshit detector
Actually US Intelligence was remarkably accurate on WMD in IRAQ. Its was the Bush admin that was out in wacko land.
There we go - problem solved.
Not sure what the story is in the USA - but from the comments you seemed starved for choice on PVR's
:(

Here in Australia I got a Humax 8000T

Yup you sure nailed that one ! Vendors are pissing in their pants at the thought of losing linux support.
