    Then why isn't the French government prosecuting the music industries or companies that sell music in France? Isn't there international action they can take? Or is this a case of companies not paying and the French unable to prosecute due to international boundaries?

    Aye. Though if this goes through and I were French I'd demand there be no more prosecuting bittorrents, or filesharers in France. Sharing music over the web in France logically should be free now as all French internet users have paid for it.

    Court lawyer fees.

    That's how the legal system all too often works these days. The monetary cost of raising a case, even if you are on the side of right, is far more expensive than paying off the extortion.

    The problem is that they did ask, but they asked for new users of newer tablet style devices.

    I see a lot of the problems arising is that designers right now are trying to make one size fits all interfaces that work for desktop, laptop and tablet interfaces and it just doesn't work that well.

    Not really. I use Ubuntu. I don't like Unity. I am probably what you'd call a power user.

    It isn't that I think Unity is a bad interface. It is just that I'm already set in my own ways. I have things the way I like them and Unity is a radical change from how I'm used to operating, and one that I don't see much gain from making. Thus I don't want to make it.

    Though I would also like to add:

    DO check to make sure your organization has the support in-house. Support needs to be there one way or the other. If it is there then I agree with the CIO. Perhaps you might bring up kicking back some bucks for development to Red-Hat or keep RH in mind for future needs but otherwise if you got the skill-base to support in-house you're good.

    He's like the most successful man in the world because he made a lot of money. Thus he knows a lot about teaching children. Far more than our crappy, oh there are some good ones out there, teachers and schools do.

    Bill is worth while because he's worth a lot.

    You really need to define what you mean by "created" and "entirely within." Very few software development projects are purely academic and a lot of development is done with both academic and non-academic contributors.

    I don't know about Tesla, but this is Yet Another Example... Of the standard scientific method.

    You never trust a single result, the experiment always has to be repeated especially in the case of unexpected findings. What I'm really waiting for is data from other accelerators, or experiments (given this experiment may be prohibitively difficult to properly replicate) to corroborate the findings.

    Hand of the free market at work. X customers willing to buy at Y price equals Z total revenue. You maximize profit often leaving many customers out of the equations. Its just that simple for Netflix as it is for food, water, safety, legal representation and healthcare.

    Its capitalism just what our founding fathers, Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Rand had in mind.

    Generally no. Think back to HS biology, you put stuff on clear glass slides to see it. If it operated on reflective you wouldn't need the slide, just put it under the black or white base and look.

    Also it might make research in recycling old hard drives more of an option. The rare earth are probably mostly in the magnetic heads. I dunno about the platters.
